Crossing Mexicali 'best time of day/week
Is there a "better time and better day of the week crossing into Mexicali? We are heading into Baja sometime around the 8th. We will adjust for
popular day to cross. It won't be weekends for sure. I'd guess maybe tue or Wed. or even Thursdays.
Appreciate any advise. Is Alfonso's still open for lodging???
Would you recommend staying overnight at S.F. & if so, what motel do you recommend that has solid security?

You can't beat El Diamante for its rooms with garages. North of town not far from El Coloradito.

Coming down just don't go Friday afternoon-evening. Going back Friday is the best time to cross. stay away from Wednesday mornings everyone is going
to the calexico swap meet. And of course Sundays are not the best. other than that it is a crap shoot.
This time of the year it seems to always be backed up.
Have Fun
Mick
Getting there is ALL the fun!

Mexicali
We were in Calexico two weeks ago, on a Friday afternoon around 2:00 p.m. - traffic southbound was backed up on Highway 111 more than 2 miles from the
port of entry into Mexicali - moving very slowly. We stayed the night, crossed early Saturday with no traffic. Hadn't been there in a few years and I
was surprised to see all the lanes divided with barricades on the U.S. side. Lots of cameras and other detection devices alongside the lanes although
it was un-manned. Must be set up as some sort of U.S. intervention/interrogation of those going into Mexico.
Returning home five days later, we hadn't been through Mexicali west in years, decided to give it a try. Easy route to the border from the south,
turned left along the border fence and ended up with a 45 minute wait at noon. Mexicali east has been our recent re-entry point and usually an hour
give or take mid-morning on weekdays.

If you are talking about crossing south, try Calexico East,
