la ribera, buena vista los barriles, in 10-20 years
A post I made went off topic, so I thought a new post was in order. I'd like a perspective from others living and planing on living in the east cape
area around los barriles what they think the area will be like in 10-20 years with a new port in la ribera being built, and the potential for for the
legislation in progress for foriegners holding title in the restricted zone.

According to the locals on an Oct 2013 fishing trip to that area "the new port in la ribera" is DOA. All construction I could see has stopped. No
dinero at this time to finish her up. Plus they say the marina does not offer much protection from the dreaded north winds.

If anyone knew what this place will look like in 10-20 years there would be a buck to be made. The marina project seems to be stalled but far from
DOA. It's Baja, things move slowly down here sometimes. Someone will buy a few lots and they will be back to work, the project is too far along to be
abandoned, there are boats parked there now and there are still people working there doing maintenance and security. Whatever talk you hear is just
that until you see something actually happen, like the ability of foreigners to hold title to property. I hope that happens but I'm not holding my
breath, there is a pretty powerful lobby (banks and notaries just to name 2) that will be pushing hard for the bill to fail. A lot of money is made
moving paper from one pile to another, enough to sway a vote for sure.
We would buy more property in MX if we didn't have to have yet another fide.

| HOLA,No way of ever knowing...I have seen project after project stopped,,fail for 100 of reasons...Thats
just the way it works (or doesn't) in mex & Baja..I would not assume for a second that just because money was spent on the port that it has to
continue,,,,nope...not.,,,.only god knows and she is not telling !!!!

I can throw a rock into the waters of the marina from my house but I don't have a clue as to the future of the thing. Not possible to see through the
trees on projects in Mexico --- could be another swine flue waiting for the first cold morning >> major cartel wars, Russia or Iran or whoever
fire missiles at our ships in Oil Alley, Barney Frank sponsors a new housing scheme bill, Nancy Pelosi is president, Europe collapses, Oso Negro goes
out of business, Pemex is sold to Chavez (Hugo, not Jesus).......

You'd better warm up that arm a bit before you try that Jorge, don't want to be tearing a rotator cuff at your age
