oh crap...my hermano is flying from there to Loreto today..or not?
Brother just got to Loreto...they got out of LAX just in time...whew.
I was just watching the live feed and they said one man was in critical condition and 2 wounded are gonna be OK...and the gunman was shot...but they
wont say who the critical victim is.

Looks like he was some anti-government nut who was specifically targeting TSA agents.

I have to say, I'm no fan of the TSA and I don't much care for air travel these days because of all the crap you have to put up with, but it sucks
that someone apparently put a target on their backs just for doing what is a pretty thankless job.

This incident will be the perfect excuse to arm them and give them even broader powers to hassle law abiding travelers.

You Fly
They Spy.
I'd say that they've got a pretty good argument for more extensive and intrusive inspection.
Take your choice.
Whatever it takes.
Scan everybody and everything.

If all honest citizens were trained (NRA or other) and carried, how much quicker would the killer have been stopped... or never even tried in the
first place!

Only way to stop a bad man with a gun, is with a good man with a gun. I don't believe there are more bad men than good... if so, then we are lost.
Guns don't make people do evil things. Evil people will use anything they want to hurt or kill. Making guns hard to get has 0 effect on criminals
getting guns. It does make honest people less able to save lives and stop crime, however.

The OK corral at LAX. I can see it now!! They are packin on the streets in Arizoona and it didn't stop the wacko from shooting Rep Giffords, did it?
More guns...More shootings!
TSA can do all the inspections they want. Flying is a privilege not a right.

David,
let's not make this Rep-Dem/right-left issue....it's a Gun Kulture issue in my way of looking at it.
There seems to be a problem bigger than politics here....and wherever else this happens on this blue planet.
I don't pretend to have "The Answer", but there seems to be more mass shootings in the USA than anywhere else.
Not a rant, here....just a sad awareness
Don't believe everything you think....

The obvious???? Was the old west gun packin environment safer? Any place with lots of guns any safer?
Motoged has it right! What is goin on? Except a culture that it is OK to shoot people.
I can see you now DK....doin the quick draw....Ohoh....you were just a little too slow.
And David. In Arizoona we can have guns very easily without the need for a permit...concealed or otherwise. (that law passed a couple of years ago).
More guns and wannabe cowboys than .....

To discuss guns pro and cons is like asking for the best truck, tire, camping spot or abortion. Nobody's going to change their mind because of Nomads.
I do like all the first ten amendments to the constitution. If you want to take the guns away change the constitution.
Switzerland is one of the most armed countries in the world. It kinda safe. There are to many guns in the hands of Americans to get them all back.
That cow has left the barn. Now what to do?
Nothing on this board to going to make a difference.
America is one one of the few countries that loan individuals are killing people in mass for no apparent reason. I can think of few countries killing
people in mass for political or ideological reasons.
Some are armed some are not.
I don't think killing anybody is making the the world better, however it's done.

Perhaps it is the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs and now their health insurance is cancelled... being driven over the edge by this
administration's actions? But again, I believe people are mostly good and the few in government should not be the only ones with guns... What they do
in communist countries and N-zi Germany should not also be done here.

BULL CRAP!!!!! If the right wing believed that, then the easy answer would be to make sure that bad men don't get their hands on guns. If you will
take the time to recall, the people with your mind set ABSOLUTELY REFUSED this year to pass a bill making it more difficult for CRAZY FREEKING PEOPLE
to get their hands on guns. ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to make background checks part of the protection that unarmed people clearly need.
According to the overwhelming facts, putting more guns in more people's pockets will certainly accomplish one thing. The vast majority of people who
are killed with guns are killed by someone they are acquainted with, your solution would guarantee that more friends and family members of gun owners
will die.
I'd be very interested to see any good Justice Department documentation that indicates that there has been a DECREASE in gun violence associated with
the HUGE increase in gun ownership in the US recently.
I am willing to admit to the feelings that came over me the first time I was instructed to strap-on a loaded sidearm with the authorization to kill to
protect myself. If those evil feelings of power over life and death swept over me, I'm going to assume they sweep over a lot of people carrying a
loaded gun in public for the first time, or any time. In reality, not once in 70 years have I been in a situation where I even began to need a loaded
gun. How about you?
We COULD be above the law of the jungle. I don't think the minority political view in this country is going to let that happen, are you David. It's
all about getting beyond "fight or flight" Brother.
And, I'd ask you to look at this Conservative fixation with guns in historical perspective. When the Right lost the hard-fought battles for equal
rights for all races, and when the women stood up and took and held many of their constitutional rights against the wishes of the Conservatives, they
had to go looking for another "cause" to rally their diminishing faithful. The Second Amendment, a clear necessity in a country without a standing
army, allowing a man to own a flint lock musket, so he can join his neighbors and prevent oppression, has been turned into the scene at the Democratic
rally in Arizona.
David, if only 10 of the "honest citizens" at the Arizona rally had been armed equally with the gunman, and I believe his personal protection was
legal, they'd have been able to fire almost 300 rounds in 15 seconds to eliminate the threat. How much of a threat to the citizens in the crowd does
THAT represent.
