Tolerance in Baja

In the most recent edition of the Baja Times, the English language newspaper, an ad is headlined "Gay Bar" and goes on the give location details, along with the line "Heterosexual Friendly".

Are people in Baja tolerant enough that whoever placed the ad felt comfortable enough to make it a headline and to believe that it will help bring in customers?

I honestly don't have an opinion or any knowledge about the subject.

I'm thinking that if you took the time to post a new thread about this subject, you do have an opinion. Just my opinion.

That said, what is happening right now in many places around the world, including the US, is encouraging. Why should anyone give a flip about someone else's gender orientation? It has become a political wedge issue in the states, but geez, at the end of the day, what does it matter.

I doubt it. If you think about it, gays are exposed to heterosexuality all the time and they seem to be pretty tolerant.

I'll admit it - I have been to gay bars. And guess what? I had a good time. And guess what else???

It didn't make me gay.:P

Exactly! :yes::yes:

I find a lot of stuff on TV really disturbing, disgusting, or just plain stupid. I turn it off or turn the channel. RuPaul is no wierder than Tiny Tim, Lady Gaga, Dennis Rodman, or that other nit-wit that's been hanging her tongue out of her mouth lately. He'd be weird whether or not he was gay. And he has no more in common with the vast majority of gay people than Dennis Rodman has with you...except for the name, of course...

My stepson is gay. He and his partner, a native born Mexican (Mexico City) have been to Baja many times to visit us. Our Mexican friends are very accepting of them. My stepson's partner actually gets more teasing about his being a "Chilango" than about being gay.

Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

Ohhh pleeeeze....don't tell me I have to be accepting of that crazy crap on RuPal's freak show. I only see it when I'm passing by on a channel surfing wave, and it's all I can do keep my lunch down before I hit the button to move on.
There are alternative life styles for which I have plenty of tolerant understanding.
Then...there are freak shows, such as this, where individuals go out of their way to push the envelope on human interaction. It belongs in the annals of the ol' time donkey shows in TJ.
Am I supposed to accept those as alternative lifestyles as well?

Jeeeezo....be tolerant, but don't be supportive of biological abomination.

Umm. O.K.

I really have not the faintest idea of what you just posted after reading it three times.

As with anything Dennis accept what you wish and discard the undesirable.

Seems pretty simple to me.

So...change the channel if it bugs you, Dennis? My point was that it is as ridiculous for you to bring up RuPaul in a conversion about gay people as it would be for someone else to compare you to some of the hetero freaks that are out there just because you are both hetero. And there are at least as many hetero freaks as there are RuPauls. If you consider him a freak. I've never watched him personally for more than a second so I wouldn't know just how freaky he is or isn't. He's just not interesting to me. So I change the channel...and I don't paint all gay people with the same brush.

First of all, there are people who push the envelope in all walks of life. For instance, you would never catch me watching any of the burro movies.

Second of all, homosexuality has existed in nature since the beginning of nature.

Finally, despite the currently accepted numbers, there are some well researched scientific studies that claim that within the human populace, homosexuality both patent and latent, approaches 25% of the population. A huge number of people just deny their own tendencies.

But, at the end of the day, what folks do behind closed doors is the business of no one else.
