Sentri Inspection on Way Down, Loaded Up?
I'm scheduling a Sentri inspection on my vehicle, but don't live near the border. Rather than make a special trip, it would be easier to schedule the
appointment on my next trip to Baja.
Does anyone know if there's an issue with having the inspection when the car is loaded with stuff (and a dog) on my way south?
Thanks.

I have done it twice. It depends on the inspector. Both times they really liked dogs and spent more time with the dogs than the truck......However
YMMV

Did they look in the vehicle? Crawl around inside? Weight it? Just curious what the inspection actually involves.

They definitely do not weigh it. My experience has been that they poke around for a minute or two in the cab and engine compartment, slap the sticker
on and you're done. I have always done it with nothing in the vehicle.

Oh, BTW, when I was in the SENTRI office, I explained to them and the inspector putting on the sticker we were headed to Baja from Nevada for 6 months
and the truck was full of stuff and the dogs.....no problem, but again, depends on the individual inspector

There are no stickers anymore, only inspections.

Yep, no more stickers. The guy that just did our truck spent 10 seconds looking.
At worst, they will ask you to move some stuff around to ensure there are no hidden compartments in the bed

The inspection guidelines are posted on CBP. Remember all doors, hood and trunk lids must stand freely.
Window tint on the front three will get you rejected as will window cracks.
good luck with the packed vehicle.

Yep, no stickers anymore. They checked both of my cars in under 20 seconds last week. Had hood open, windows up, trunk open.

I like to have fun with the Border Patrol folks when ever I can.
I threw a few bags of pot in my truck just to see if they could find it.
