ATM in Tecate, Mexico

Will be crossing border at Tecate, would like to stop in Tecate to get pesos from an ATM. Does anyone know of an ATM that is as close as possible to the route to highway 3.

Yes, straight into Tecate at the town center there are a couple of banks with ATMs. It is 4 short blocks from the border. Parking may be tough there. As you head south from Tecate there is a newer big grocery store. Soriana or Calimax maybe? It's on the right side of the road and would make for an easy stop. I'd be surprised if they did not have an ATM in there. Then there is a large Pemex on the right side with a mini-market. They may have one too. It will be easy. Have fun.

Here is a map Wilbur -

This is assuming you want the route southbound. Follow my red line. ATM's are marked. I also labelled my favorite carne asada taco shop.

Calimax

As mentioned above, once you get south of "the favorite taco stand" there will be a Calimax grocery store on your right.

No recent reports of enhanced local police activity however be sure to go (below) the speed limit and stop at the stop signs, or where you think the stop signs should be.

Can't reinforce bajaguy's last advice enough. Stop at every single corner in the built-up area, because better someone honks at you for being a slowpoke than to have to go through the horror of dealing with Tecate's ridiculous police farce.
