Windshield ding

Anyone know a place in Cabo/San Jose to get a windshield ding patched? Had one done in California and I can't even see where it was. Crinamex San Jose says replace the whole thing.

Crinamex is an outfit that replaces windshields. One in San Jose and another in Cabo...probably more around.

Yep....if MP is up here, but there should be someone down there to do this work.
The starburst type of ding is what they can do their best work with, but the lineal crack they shy away from. But it's worth a try with the injection system they use.

Good luck, MP.

There used to be a place across the road from Soriana's and Price Club on the way to the airport. Just a little hut.

Edit it add
We have found windshields to be cheaper here than the states

I'll check auto zone but the place I had it done in Cal had an injection thing that forced the stuff into the hole. I was hoping someplace down here had the injection apparatus.

I would think that's the only process to get between the layers of glass. The product off the shelf could only be topical...ineffective.

No idea what the charge is to fix a ding, but as Keith sez,
new $100 windshields installed (in my driveway in Phoenix) in my 94 Corolla and 97 Isuzu Rodeo and 90 Dodge Dakota.

It's so cheap that I replace windshields when they get pitted/hazy at sunset and sunrise.

Never had a problem with workmanship or seals...the gasket's included!

I was wondering what a windshield is in Mexico?
I can't imagine it cheaper, although the mobile installer in Phoenix advertises that most are actually $80 installed...

Windshield repair costs experience in Baja.

Wish I could help you with info about Cabo and area, but I expect you'll find some very good deals if you ask some locals. I can, however, give you a rough estimate of the cost.

A few years back I had a starburst ding repaired flawlessly on my pickup windshield by a traveling vendor...20 dollar bill. I trusted this fellow to do the job. After all, he'd probably done quite a few...and I had done zero.

Very little money and well spent. It was quick, easy, and it lasted until I had the entire windshield replaced in my 2500 Ram last March in Asuncion by a nice guy named "Peen'. NEW. Peen hauled it all the way from Laz Paz. Installed perfectly, it cost $100 USD.

New windshield installed...$100. Could not possibly get a better deal. Good luck.

WINDSHIELD REPAIR

When I am south [Loreto] , I can help ya. I have one of my W/S repair machines at our house. The chip fill is quick and works great. We have been doing the repairs for 25 years. The drilling leaves a visible mark, no problem, but we try to do with out the drilling for the quick easy patch.

Send me note if I can help out..

Thanks everyone! If a new one is $100 installed I might buy a kit and mess with it myself first. I'm in Todos Santos for a couple days. Have to go back into San Jose and Cabo for a few things. Comitan....I'd heard of that place in La Paz and if I was going that way this time I'd find it. msawin...thanks for the offer!

Plikngton Glass has a shop in Ensenada with a warehouse in Tijuna they are a Canadian base company. They make all kinds of glass. They put a NEW windshield in my truck for 100dl.
A friend has a very old Subaru wagon the neighborhood kids threw a rock through the back window. He searched every wrecking yard in the Ensenada area and found nothing. I gave him the address of the shop and and within 3days he had a NEW window.
