south dakota auto insurance
so does anyone know what a minimum limit liability only policy runs in south dakota? im paying $350 a year for a ca. geico policy. any savings to be
had?

Depends on how many miles/ year you DRIVE IN THE USA. Because I told GIECO that both of my SD plated cars are driven less than 5,000 miles while in
the US, and they are covered by MX insurance while not in the US. my semi annual cost for an 02 Yukon and a 95 jeep is $220

Depends on how many miles/ year you DRIVE IN THE USA. Because I told GIECO that both of my SD plated cars are driven less than 5,000 miles while in
the US, and they are covered by MX insurance while not in the US. my semi annual cost for an 02 Yukon and a 95 jeep is $220 |

three trips norte a year! so I assume you have a SD drivers license?

No SD DL, just plates. MY CA DL just has a PO box address so if I'm stopped I just tell them I don't work or live in US so I don't need CA
registration.

I carry an annual Mexican policy that runs me about $500 bucks per year plus my annual AAA as well. I'm guessing you're getting the better deal
living in Mexico.

There is no requirement to SHOW PROOF OF INSURANCE, but don't know about needing it to drive there. My GIECO agent sends me a SD Insurance card (and a
Canadian card) every year.

You only need SD liability if you are going to drive in SD. Took the truck to the the States for 2 months two years ago and bought a 6 month policy
from Progressive for $171 using our San Ysidro Mailbox address.

so you just do a CA DL change of address using the PO box # of the SD outfit that got you
your plates? its that easy???

Don't have a SD mail box, just use my Chula Vista CA mail box and buy the SD registration/plates on line from the Clay County Treasurer using this:

Here's what a @#$%^&! C.H.P. told me as he was writing aticket
1. California license holders must have a physical address. No "only" PO Box
2. DMV said they will not issue license for only PO Box
3. No physical address the cop takes your license.
This did not seem fair, and doesn't seem fair. Feeding law to a traffic cop is like feeding water to a gremlin after midnight.
