From what I can tell they have gone through a couple of processes. I think, as of today, with the NOM number it is Mfg. in Jalisco. However, it seems at one point in time they were putting the agave juice into 55 gallon drums and shipping it to Houston. And the original was make from 100% blue agave from Mexico.

If I recall correctly, it cannot be called 'Tequila' if it is made in any other state than the one the town of Tequila is in (ie. Jalisco). Mezcal can come from anywhere... worm included!:light:

The second site that has the list I posted noted that Patron is cherry picking the best of the available Jalisco tequilas. It said that if you check the NOM number on Patron, you'll find different manufacturers. It would be interesting to have a variety of Patron's to compare.

7 Leguas or "Siete Leguas" is the tequila that invented the Patron label. [see image above].

The original Patron was made in the 7 Leguas Leguas Distillery in Mexico and then sold to St. Maarten Spirits, Ltd. in the U.S., where it was marketed under the brand name Patron from 1991 through 2002.

After high demand, 7 Leguas couldn't keep up with production. Patron ceased their relationship and built their own tequila distillery. 7 leguas no longer produces its formula for Patron, which now has a different formula and NOM. (did this change the taste? you betcha!)

if you need more: http://www.latinbayarea.com/article/the-truth-about-patron-t...

7 Leguas comes from the name of Pancho Villa's horse. 7 Leguas carries a name and symbol that was inspired by the revolutionary hero General Francisco Villa (Pancho Villa), who named his horse Siete Leguas (Seven Leagues) in recognition of the distance the steed galloped on one of the many conquests.

7 Leguas won the 2008 Gold Medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Patron has never won a gold medal.

7 Leguas is made "de tajona" -- the ancient technique of grinding the agave with a stone wheel, driven by mules.

I have three bottles of Mezcal in the bar that are all Del Maguey, Chichicapa, Minero and Pechuga and no worms plastic or otherwise. Mezcal is an acquired taste and when folks come over I pour some they usually take a whiff and the smokey aroma turns them off. I don't argue and pour them a shot of a nice Añejo and that leaves more mezcal for me. :saint: A few of my friends have caught on.

Not true, there are 4 other states now licensed by the Mexican government to produce Tequila as well as Jalisco.
