Ensenada toll road options
Due to the toll road collapse, what are some specific instructions on how to get to free road from Ensenada to Tijuana. Can we get back on toll road
after La Mision?

Looks like you can. It is closed at La Mision so I would expect it to be open there as well. Probably caused by the recent earthquake that hit
Ensenada.

Options
Take the Toll road south to LaMision, traffic is being diverted to the free road......free road joins the highway just south of the Ensenada toll
booth at San Miguel.
Another option is to take Corridor 2000 north from popotla/Rosarito, then head East to Tecate on the "free" road, then south on Hwy 3 to Ensenada

If you head west on Corridor 2000 from Rosarito to Tecate, that is a 25 minute drive then another hour south minimum drive to Ensenada from Tecate.
Seems you might just want to bite the bullet and take the free road down and save yourself some time heading directly south from La Mision to
Ensenada.

Telumana was looking for options, I gave him/her a couple. ....and I don't think you can drive Corridor 2000 WEST from Rosarito.

While the free road may seem like the most viable alternative, I'm waiting to see what the reports are of congestion there, and how long of delays (if
any) to expect.
For those wanting to travel from the USA side to Ensenada, I suspect that the most viable option for some time to come may be through Tecate. The
potential delays from congestion on the free road will be the difference maker IMHO.

Yes I agree, but if your first destination is anywhere south of Rosarito, you will probably be forced to take the free road. What a nightmare for
everyone both north and south of the Border.

Here are your options... the road from El Tigre to Francisco Zarco (Guadalupe) via El Perral is now paved...
The destruction is at the map Mex 1-D logo on the highway.

What are road conditions like along Hwy 3? Traffic will likely increase a bit- any construction?
I had planned to head to San Miguel Sunday, now I think I will wait for Monday and go via Tecate, maybe visit some wineries along the way.
I wonder what this will mean for San Miguel traffic noise? It may be quieter, I hope, now that the toll booth will be closed and traffic will head
northeast instead of coastal.
Trucks using their engines to slow down as they approach the toll booth can be very noisy... might be nice to be in a "cul de sac" for a while.

they are saying it will be repaired in a week, that's Mexico time of course!!

My thoughts are that after so many (forever) years of repairing that section they might have a planned bypass already drawn up. I have to go North
again the end of January so I'm very interested in how repairs go.
