Aural Heritage versus Noise Pollution?
My neighbor was just over to see if we would go to the local police tomorrow morning to file a complaint of noise pollution on his neighbors across
the street from him.
They are partiers. At least once a week you can count on a party starting at 9p.m. and entertaining the whole area until 3 or 4 in the morning.
This doesn't bother us so much because we have a block wall and trees from that direction and the party is on the next street over.
If we have the windows open or are outdoors in the summer time, it kind of affects our sleep.
But now the group is in full party mode which will probably go on until Jan. 2 or 3.
The question is:
Does anyone know of a law in Mexico about noise pollution?
This neighbor is sure there is a law somewhere..... but I can't find anything.
More. . . what did I find? . . . an article on Aural Heritage.

I told the neighbor that this family was here a hell of a lot longer than he has been and maybe he should have looked into the neighbors and
neighborhood a little more before buying.
I don't think he has a leg to stand on here.
Doesn't bother me - the parties - I just think of all the people enjoying themselves and enjoy it myself. . .

The only place I've EVER camped in Baja where Mexican noise was a problem was Lopez Mateo. 20 years ago we parked by the Bay right by the lighthouse,
and a guy pulled up right beside our camper van at 2:30 AM cranked up his radio, sat on the hood, drank beer, and just waited for me to get up and
start something. He ALMOST got his wish, but I drove away after half hour or so.  I think he would have been "one of those guys" in any culture.
I've had an address in a mountain pass with an interstate and a railroad running through it, and a jet fly way overhead for half my life. Every time I
return from Baja, my immunity to the noise has been destroyed by the relative silence of Mexico. Suddenly I hear the deadly legal train horns at all
seven crossings within earshot. Now when an 18 wheeler strays onto the rumble strip, even from half mile away, it sounds like my ship just came in.
Sirens, seem to be going off all the time.
I'm really looking forward to the sound of the surf. (and a little kid running round and round the block on his quad.)

I don't know what I would do without my neighbor's roosters .....?
I'd probably sleep right through the glorious sunrises.

this is a common complaint in Mexico and depending on who the noise makers are, one can call the police to ask them politely to tone it down a
bit...but if it's ...say...a 90th birthday party...or quincenera etc....well my advice is to SUCK IT UP! (you will just get a reputation for a whiner
and trouble maker if you complain)
It's usually only for a night or two..so get some good ear plugs or go to the party. Mexico is not a quiet country by any means.
But moving in close to a perpetual party house is certainly an issue that is not going to be resolved by complaining. You could take the offending
party a plate of brownies and politely ask them to let you know when they are going to have a party so you can plan to be away. It is always wise to
fully investigate the neighbourhood before you buy a house!
In holiday seasons, you can expect alot of noise nearly everywhere...except out here on the rock of course!!! except for the sealions making a racket!

This reminds me of out first night in our house here.
We woke up at 6am to the loudest music I have ever heard. We both sat up in bed, looked at each other, and I said....What have we done?
Every morning we woke up to the same, until Jan 6 arrived.....silence
After all the holidays were over.
Did we complain....NO way.

The problem my neighbor has is - these are perpetual partiers. 2 or 3 times a week - every week and a steady 2 weeks for Santa Semana and Navidad
and el Ano Nuevo.
The meeting the the Comandante today did not pan out, so I am still waiting to see what might come of this complaint.
He is sure there is a quiet time law here in Mexico. I don't believe it!
