question re driving in Baja w/dog...
is sit true you need to restrain pets w/harnesses while driving in Baja now? Norte and Sur both? I seem to recall this was a ticket situation if
stopped. Or maybe an excuse to be pulled over?
I'll be driving to Ensenada √ia Tecate to bypass the coastal mess and I've heard Tecate is a ticket trap for visitors w/unrestrained dogs.
So.... true? Urban myth?

Floridian ugliness.\" (John Steinbeck, 1940, discussing the future of La Paz, BCS, Mexico)

I have been going from Ensenada to La Paz and back for nearly 7 years, usually with one or two fat labs in an xtracab tacoma in the back seat, never
been questioned about harnesses or transport cages for them.

There was a report of someone getting hassled, but keep your windows rolled up and ears and nose inside-- the dog's, not yours and no worries.
Just don't let Fido drive unless he has a valid license.

Dog restraints
Yup, a new law went into effect earlier this year that requires dogs (pets0 to be restrained in a vehicle.
Is it enforced???....only if they want to.
Crate your pet or get a pet harness/seat belt
Although they can pile about 10 people in the bed of a pickup without a problem, unrestrained pets seem to be a hot button.

Some one that visited Chivato this week got stopped by federal police for not having his dog restrained or boxed not sure which. But it was on his lap
while he was driving. He was taken the the fed cop shop and charged something like $250 usd. 3rd hand but I think there is some truth in this.

Good. Dogs don't belong in drivers lap.

I think this is one of those "it depends" situations...meaning it depends on the day, the police officer, the place etc.
Just got back from Baja yesterday and on the way home we went through a Federale Road Block and then had a nice conversation with a Police Officer
along the Border Wait time...both times my dog (who was in the back seat of my truck) poked her nose through the open window to say hello and we had
no problem.
As a bonus...after a 2 hour + wait at the border the CBP officer saw her, asked her name, said he use to have a Lab and let us go right through!
Nice. If he'd been nasty I might have bitten him myself!!
Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

I ordered a little leash that clips into any seatbelt for 8 bucks on amazon. Just FYI. I didn't have any problem when I went down to gonzaga over
thanksgiving. My pup wasn't strapped in but at the border crossings. No issues.
