Repairs on the toll road begun January 1st
Looks like the Mexican government is taking the tried and true tested method of repairing that lovely patch that keeps cracking and collapsing. They
have built a temporary ramp to bring in machinery and repair equipment and have started repair the 1st of January. With the new repair a sign should
be posted "Wear wetsuit when driving this portion of the toll-road" and "swim at your own risk." I guess the suspension bridge is out for now as the
government is starting to sorely miss that toll road money in Ensenada.

What is change of stroke? I think this is more of an emotional move than anything. Rationality would not allow for the same area to be repaired but
Ensenada residents so extensively identify themselves with that beautiful stretch of highway that the idea of having to traverse the free road without
the option of the spectacular cliff and ocean views are too much to bear. (It actually depressed me as well). I for one am happy that I can traverse
that area again (albeit at my own risk) and can feel happy once again to know I have that option. It always lifts me out of the doldrums when I drive
that beautiful highway. After all, we are in Mexico. Why we all like it here is that we can do things that we can't do in the US (like light off
fireworks in our own backyard on Christmas and New Years). Yes there are inherent dangers in taking risks, but we all agree to ourselves that living
in Baja has its distinct economic and social advantages.

According to the article they are not repairing the road, they are making the slide area accessable for equipment and personnel to access the site for
survey work and to do clean up work at the site and remove debris

Bob did you or did you not get the word repair out of the article? Obviously to repair the area they need to clean it up first.

I can't imagine the backup on the free road through the rancheros to get to Ensenada...

In the context of the article it is a change of the route of the highway.

I see. Being in my profession I would take it to be something entirely different! Haha. Thank you for the clarification Bajaguy. Quote: | Originally posted by bajaguy

A repair job of that magnitude will be interesting.
Why do Liberals insist and demand that achievers pay the way for nonachievers who are to lazy to succeed, or are just failures by their own choice?
Criminals prefer unarmed victims, dictators prefer unarmed subjects.
Why do ignorant people continue their blabbering when it only proves to others how stupid they are.

Magnitude? You've got to be kidding. If it's in the same area, all they can do is cut and paste as usual!! Sort of like patching the roof instead of
replacing the whole one. Quote: | Originally posted by Bajajorge

Whatever they decide to do is not going to Happen Over Night, they have studied that area for a lot of years and when they are satisfied there can
be a effective fix the next stage will be getting bids for the actual repair work and letting of contracts This is not the first time a slide of that
magnitude has happened in that area.

In this case, "cambio de trazo" means a change of route—in other words, actually listening to the civil engineers and letting Salsipuedes Bay return
to its natural state.
