The NET is/was Down in BCS Today!

As we tried to get money out of the ATM at Santander Bank in San Jose, the machine ate my wife's card!!!!! The card eventually came out and she retrieved the card. We did get one transaction of money.

Had a flat tire on the way in so we went to Costco to buy a new one. There we were told that they could not check inventory as their computer was down. Further business dealings indicated that a major disruption of internet service was happening.

On the way back home late this afternoon a gal said there had been a problem with a fiber optic cable near La Paz and that there was no internet in BCS??

Anybody know what is happening???

I heard that cellphone was also down. That was a report from Mulege.

We are using satellite internet so we are not affected.

Well, the story in Santa Rosalia is that the cable was cut someplace where they are doing road construction. Phones were out as well as the fibre optic. The only internet that was working was Hughes Net. It also went out about the same time for awhile and I thought it might be a government takeover of the internet, but was just a freak accident that occured around the same time.' No word on when they will have the fibre optic repaired, but it was still out tonight.

I think people got tired of hearing fish stories and staged a grey out. Are you coming down for pizza sunday?

The telmex land lines were working in Mulege all day, So when we called about the internet being down the excuse from them was a server went down in chihuahua... Now we have 2 stories... both believable somewhat..
We were able to call the states and local all day.. local cell phones were not working tho...
As you can see,,, it all seems to be running this morning...

We had a complete outage of both internet and phone service for over 8 hours yesterday in La Paz.

Word on the street was that the government turned it off after the prison incident.

Could that be true?

Someone told me today that the Mexican Government sold their rights to or ownership of certain satellite systems to the French and that was why it all went down. LOL stories, stories, stories...

They were dressed as police and 9 people were killed.

Someone in our marina said this has happened before when there was something that might be a possible terrorist attack - the government shuts down all communication.

That kind of surprised me.

The city offices of Mulege which is in Santa Rosalia told us that officially there was a cable cut north of Jesus y Maria. The Bank said the same thing and had most things shut down. Phones went off after 1:30 or 2:00
