Air Travel

Want to fly to Cabo rather than drive. In your experience what is your best advice? Going fishin in August. Thought about getting a flight out of Mexicali.

No flights from Mexicali to either CSL or SJD. You can fly US Airways straight from Phoenix, fly from Tijuana, or head into California and fly from John Wayne, LAX or San Diego.

Flown out of TJ many times to points south and mainland...Volaris airlines is a good one. TJ airport is very good, easy to get visa at airport lobby in kiosk you see when you walk through front door. Little hassle on search/security system. Lots more fun than the San Diego airport.

Park here and read info on how this is so easy: http://otaymesaparking.com/

I always check volaris out in the 3am hour when I get up every morning. Have flown to Guadalajara for $35 each way and most places for less than $75 each way if you hit it right! http://volaris.com/en/

Air fare from Phx. 400 each round trip. I think we will drive it and take the scuba trailer and dive along the way. An asking question for the future. Do you buy the tickets online or at the counter at TJ?

Wow, I just check prices for Volaris. There are some really reasonable prices there....especially if you join the Vfare club (does anyone know about that??) Anyway, even without the special Vfare the price from TJ to Guanajuato was only 240 round trip. (I check out that particular fare since I really want to visit Guanajuato some day).

Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

Get tickets online.
put shortcut on your desktop.
Before you brush your teeth in the morning open it up and check for fare you like.
Best deals are about 250-300 days out. Going to Puerto Vallarta in May. Not a mission, was there plenty in the 70's and 80's, passed through in the 90's. Got the tickets last August for $50 each way so wife and I are going for a few days. We spend that in a weekend here.
Neighborhood is on my quick alert system. I send emails out when I see deals goin'. Make my reservations first then email. Most of em are up by 4am and it seems like the whole neighborhood is going somewhere in the next several months.
I know it's a cardinal sin to share but...Don't mind sharing the secret Woody as I've got mine by 3am.

Yes... Volaris is wonderful. I nabbed tickets TIJ-GDL last year for $65 each round-trip (plus $30 for my FMM, a small price to pay!). They used to give alcohol free on flights... no more, sigh.
