Feb 9th Pueblos Magicos 300 road closures and getting to Cabo Pulmo

Hi Everyone,

We arrive at the Los Cabos Airport at 12:30pm on the 9th and were planing on driving to Cabo Pulmo.

We have been told the road to Cabo Pulmo will be closed until 6pm for an off road race.

http://www.campeonatooficialbcs.org/

Does anyone have specifics on where the road will be closed?
Can we make it most of the way wait out the closures by a nice cantina and drive the rest of the way in?
What time does it get dark?

I am not keen on driving after dark.

Thanks.

Mike.

From the airport take the highway North and turn off at Las Cuevas. Go through La Ribera and you should miss everything by that time. Even if you see a racer they will be going the same direction.

I am pretty sure that the Cabo Pulmo checkpoint closes at 1:30pm on Sunday. That "should" mean that all the racers have passed Cabo Pulmo by that time.

So do some shopping in San Jose and by all means travel through La Ribera on the way to CP. By this time you should have no or only an occasional late(slow?) racer heading south.

Thank for the input.

The race goes along the 1 between Santa Anita and La Palma.

Do you think they will close the 1?

Just looked at the map...I would head north immediately and get past that stretch between Santa Anita and La Palma. Stop in La Ribera for a cold one and see what the locals think about the road.
