Dog Food question
I just can't remember if it is illegal to bring dog food into, or out of Mexico. I know it is one or the other. Anybody know for sure?

Bringing it in is fine. Taking it back is not.

They seem to be keeping large amounts from going south, but two people with 50 lbs. each should have no problem. They haven't as yet set an allowable
amount that I've heard of.
As Blanca mentioned, you can't bring it north, regardless of where it was purchased.

I brought over a van load of donated dog food last month for the dog pound, and never got stopped. But it was covered up with blankets in the back of
my minivan, and it was after midnight when I came back.
I heard the new rule is one bag person.

dog food in baja
Its the same as motor oil...way over priced in Baja !! bring as much as is sane ...for a few seasons while parked on a arroyo slightly south of Cabo
Pumo and North of Los Fralleis.. my two Baja dogs ate fresh pan fried dorado for almost two weeks..the fishing was so awesome each day fishing on a
14' Livingston boat..I could not pull my self away to go into town to get dog food !! and I don't waste fish..could only give away as much as I could
to the few folks that came by back then..... A real northern window break for that area ! To say the least !! The wind in that area ...still would
come up...But not the 24/7 that I have seen there many,,many, many times.......and a Livingston boat loves running in the wind..but makes it a b-tch
to keep the lures running SweeT!!

I've brought it both ways without issue, I didn't have a dump truck full but enough for a month or two. I've heard that they will confiscate it going
North but have been to secondary more than a few times with dogs, cats and food for both in plain sight and was never asked about any of them.
If you quit eating dog food you won't have to worry about it.

The times we've been questioned about it, going north, CBP states you can have enough to get you to your destination, no more. Whatever.

In Baja, Diamond Dog Food (Bright Orange Bag)
Diamond Dog Food is widely distributed and easily found in the graneros/veterinarios in Rosarito.
It is a U.S. company with a Mexican corporation (S.F. de CV) and they produce a clean and healthy product of which they are very proud.
I emailed the corporate office with questions about the food and they responded very promptly.
Some of our dog-wise friends complain that there isn't enough protein in the mix - we make up a dog meat soup and add it to every meal.
Oh! What about the price? Well, it's a lot cheaper than buying the U.S. imported Pedigree in the market.

The only place we've been able to find dog meat was in Vietnam, where do you find it in Mexico?

dtbushpilot, You Are Funny!
Sorry, I didn't frame my sentence in an easy to understand way.
The local butcher gives us trims from his beef - about five kilos for 25 pesos and we make soup out of that for the dogs to add additional protein to
the mix.

Reminds me of "wok the dog" puns I used to hear in San Diego.
I didn't believe it, but then I went to Hanoi and saw dog meat in a recipe for a cooking class at an upscale hotel. Ewww...

There is another good dog food in Mexico. Ganador Premium. High protein, low filler, low (but not no) corn. We find it at Walmart.

I've never been questioned about any amounts of dog food I bring in.
Why do Liberals insist and demand that achievers pay the way for nonachievers who are to lazy to succeed, or are just failures by their own choice?

Why do ignorant people continue their blabbering when it only proves to others how stupid they are.
