Hughesnet Gen4

Hi all,

We have had Starband sat internet for about 6 years now. We have their $99 plan which gives a 5 Gb 7 day rolling average for bandwidth and 1.5Mbps download (although the reality is more like .5.8). I noticed that the Hughesnet Gen 4 sat service is a lot faster and you get 40 Gb per month. Does the footprint extent to Baja Norte? Anybody here have this system? For $129 a month thats a pretty good service!

cheers

Mike

just got my question answered by a tech guy. The footprint does not extend down more than 100 miles SOB so its out for us, but this is a great alternative for those down to about Ensenada!

Unless it recently changed HughesNet will not allow service in Mexico. We had it at the palapa south of Mulege because we listed a US address and had a tech set up the satellite. We purchased the equipment from Hughes, had it shipped to a US address etc. It worked fine but if we ever had a problem we had to tell them that we had the system set up in a remote area of Ca.

they really don't care anymore...just no on-site service

lots of rv'ers "need" internet

they bill on-line so as long as you pay...you get slow internet
it's better than nothing

if you are on the edge of the service area your internet could go in-n-out

Now, if Slim would just update the 3/4G service there would be no reason to purchase a US service. Seems like a simple fix?????
