Where are you coming from? In most cases the answer is yes. San Felipe is on Hwy. 5, 125 miles from Mexicali border.

If you are going to San Felipe you have several choices. To me the easiest way is to go to El Centro and go through one of the border crossings
there. We go through the East crossing as we feel it is pretty easy, having said that I also hear the other is just as good. Have
fun...........enjoy Mexico. We are there next week Nancy

That is personal preference for crossers at Mexicali
to San Felipe, I go east on Interstate 8 from San Diego,
about 11 mi. west of Calexico is a right turn off 8, Hwy 98
goes into downtown Calexico, the west Old Downtown
Mexicali crossing 1 mi. or so after you enter Calexico, I've driven that for yrs., you have perhaps 10 signals or so
thru Mexicali until you get out to the open Hwy, I probably
go that way out of habit, some go to the mentioned east crossing

Mexicali east is not open 24 hours, and you dont want to drive thru Mexicali during rush hour traffic.

The east Mexicali crossing can get backed up starting about 4:30 some days. All the workers coming back home. Plus getting through town can be a
littte busier.

I'm amazed at how many times I see this on the Nomad forum. A boarder is someone who pays you to stay in your house.

"A boarder is someone who pays you to stay in your house."
I thought a boarder is someone that slides on the snow while being mounted transversely on a single plank??? (see: knuckle-dragger)

East crossing by all means. There wont be any boarders this way :-) Lot easier to use the East especially for first timers. Opens at 6 closes at 10
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

We used the Calexico east last month for the first time. It's a million times better than Tijuana.

I prefer Algodones...only because it is small and no traffic. Mexicali east is faster I think.
