Map Reading OK

If you are in California and driving to Baja, reading a map on your handheld device is now OK...............

It seems to me that looking at a paper map OR a cel phone map OR eating a sloppy sandwich or whatever while DRIVING results in distraction. Doing the same while essentially parked waiting for traffic to clear is different. We need to get a grip on the wheel and put all that other stuff away while driving. It's too bad we need laws to control behaviour that should just be common sense.

Map reading is a co-pilot job just like opening beer bottles and watching for police.

You forgot about driving with a rat size dog in your lap or the morning cup of wakem-up
