whales on Pac side

I think this is the right forum to ask. Can anyone recommend the best place to see humpback whales on the Baja pacific side?

Shari is the whale expert here on Nomad... I think the Q & A forum may have been a better fit... but, we can discuss why you want to see humpbacks when the waters are full of gray whales, yes? Welcome to Baja Nomad!

The Gray Whale main destinations in winter (breeding and birthing):

1) Scammon's Lagoon (Laguna Ojo de Liebre)
2) San Ignacio Lagoon
3) Magdalena Bay (Lopez Mateos and Puerto San Carlos)

Some do go all the way into the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez).

Fin Whales and Blue Whales are seen around Bahia de los Angeles.

Best place to see humpbacks on the Pacific is Monterey Bay or Maui.

If you want to see some whales close up, Shari is currently conducting guided tours in Ojo De Libre. But you need to hurry, because the whale count is starting to diminish.

That location is a beautiful resort, Playa Frambes Lighthouse Resort http://www.mulege.org

Hi there Mr.Adams...sorry it took so long to respond, I have been at our base camp at Laguna Ojo de Liebre hanging with whales every day. There is still lots of time left to get up close and personal with a whale here and I will be doing trips till the end of March but sooner is better if you can get down here.

Here is the website for more info and phone # etc. www.whalemagictours.com

The calves are getting more playful these days and there are still over a thousand whales at the lagoon...there were over 2,000 last week.
