renting a tow dolly
Can i rent a tow dolly in california to cross it over, and back? i want to drop off a car for body work, and paint.

Call U-haul and ask......I'm thinking not.
There is a place here in Ensenada that rents them, don't know if they will let you take it across the border.
Wonder what grief Mexican Customs will give you if you dolly a car across.

The tow dolly may be the easy part. Don't ask. Just rent it and go.
The more difficult issue is that Mex Customs sometimes asks for proof of ownership for trailers, boats, ATV's, motos, etc. The car itself may be the
problem. Have the papers for it?

You should be able to though you may need a letter of permission from the owner along with all current docs and ins.
I noticed on craigslist that tow bars and tow dollys are for rent and for sale. There are also those tow brackets brackets that tow a car behind the
car on its own wheels.

i have the pink slip on the car, regist., and insurance. it's the paper work for the tow dolly, i'm sweating. i was thinking about the tow bar, but
i'd rather have the front wheels of the ground...makes for an easier tow. i've heard of people just going for it...uhaul rental. i'm getting older
and mi huevos ain't as big as they were. lol. i want the papers in order, for that one cabron cop. hehehe.

It is possible to put the tow dolly in your name at DMV with a $1 sale. Cost is about $16 that is what I do to avoid any questions.

There was a time that Mexico customs wouldn't allow disabled vehicles to be towed into the country. They figured these vehicles were on a one way
trip. Has that changed?

i don't know about that dennis. the vehicle is being towed in to be dropped off, and picked up on my return to Cal. after the it's painted. it's
easier for me to tow it, drop it off and go south for the week. i guess i need to do like mexray and drive it in, stay a few days while the work is
being done. thanks for all the replies. saludos.
