Anyone have T-Mobile in Mexico?
I am a long time ATT customer and have the Viva Mexico plan, but I am tired of paying for ATT's high monthly prices.
I am considering the new TMobile plan and want to see what folks think about it?

A friend of mine used his T-Mobile phone in the D.F., Edomex, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Oaxaca this last trip and liked it just fine. You get 2G (Edge)
with the plan, and you can pay to upgrade to 3G or 4G if you want to.

I was able to use my T-Mobile phone in Cabo and Todos Santos. Local calls cost 20 cents per minute, and the data plan was adequate for checking email,
etc., when WiFi access was not available. Data coverage was spotty where we stayed (San Pedrito), but was snappy whenever we went downtown.

Yep, found that, but it didn't have much information specific to the "NEW" tmobile plan

I have the "New" T-Mobile plan. It's called Simple Choice. I'm able to use my phone in TJ, and don't get charged anything extra for it. The new plan
is $20 less per month than the old plan that I had.
If you're further down into the interior of Mexico, you may get charged $.20 per minute, though.

Cortezblue- I have the same ATT deal with Viva Mexico. I too am not happy with the high charges. If you find a better plan whether TMobile or anyone
else please post.

T-Mobile has a contract with MovieStar so use their coverage map for an idea of where you will get service.

T-mobile
We are trying out our new T-mobile service this weekend. The price quote for two phones with unlimited text, talk (US) and data and $.20 minute calls
from Mexico. The bill is $110.35/mo. Our last bill from ATT for similar service was over $220.00. I'll re-post after this weekend and let you know how
it went.

baconjr- do you know what you pay for calls coming into Mexico? Our ATT Viva Mexico plan costs 55/mo for 450 anytime minutes to calls into or from
Mexico and 1000 weekend minutes (again into or from Mexico.) We have grandkids and others that call us from the US while we are in Mexico. We
typically use about 800 of our weekend minutes and 400 of our anytime minutes which comes out to under 5 cents per minute. Also, we have been happy
with our Mexico cell reception and ATT allows for rollover minutes on ATT Mexico. We'd like to reduce our bill but for us it seems like ATT Viva
Mexico is much better than Tmobile. Am I missing something?

I haven't been charged for any calls coming into Mexico. Everyone still calls me on my cell phone, and it hasn't happened yet. I'll probably get rid
of the Magic Jack Plus when it's time to renew, because it rarely gets used.

tjsue-interesting- I cross at Tecate and usually eat at a downtown restaurant about 3 blocks from the border entrance heading south. I usually make a
couple of calls from that restaurant and the calls show on my VivaMexico plan vs my regular Att minutes.

I guess T-Mobile is different. I make and receive calls in TJ, and have not been charged anything extra yet.
