FMM card
I ran into a guy at the park today who didn't get his FMM card at the boarder. I told him I told him I would ask.
So how and where would you get a card after leaving the boarder? Loreto area.

You can ask at any port of entry in country, they may say you should of asked earlier and you may reply that this is the first moment that you have
arrived officially at a point of entry, which may occur at any point of entry in country with a valid reason. It helps to document your travels and
provide evidence of your travel with receipts, for example one can arrive in Cabo with no FMM though having just arrived and easily get a FMM, though
if you have been in country for some time with no FMM you would certainly be in the position to pay a late fee/fine which is not severe. Good luck-be
honest and ask for patience and forgiveness of a misunderstanding on your part.
A common situation is "jumped ship" Captain wan an a hole. This is my first stopping port.

If he is on vacation and driving back to the states he may want to ignore the FMM requirement. It is a big hassle to try for an FMM anywhere away
from the border. He is not going to be asked for it.

Right, we read here on Nomad of $100 dollar fine plus the $24 FMM tax. Happened to Art at Guerrero Negro INM station (just south of the Eagle) because
his wife had an expired passport and the border at Mexicali would not issue her one.

INM infracciones are payable in pesos (cash only) and the standard multa is one thousand pesos not one hundred dollars FYI. I know of no Mexican
government entity that accepts dollars now. Banks will convert and collect for fines and tramites.
The issue arises as was noted above in proof of how long an individual was illegally in Mexico. A somewhat effective excuse is "I passed by Tecate at
10:30PM and the office was closed."

Wiser men than I, heading south, have turned rite to the airport in GN and driven around the ag. checkpoint. But this is a mute point cuz he is in
Loreto. If he's on a motorcycle it may cost less than a hunnert to drive to the border and back otherwise doing nothing may be an attractive
alternative.

Ensenada INM office would issue FMM. But, when somebody is THAT close to the border and is going home North, I would forget about it.
It's interesting what David K said about GN. Haven't heard this happening for long time.

I think it was a figment of his imagination. We have not seen migration there in numerous trips the past 3 yrs.

In July 2012 there was a stop sign past the Eagle and in front of the INM shack. It was manned and the officer waved us through without looking at our
fmm papers.
