Border crossing at Mexicali
We haven't been through there in like 10 years.
How many crossings are there (two?). Is one a faster route through Mexicali than the other?
I'm meeting someone from Mexico right when we cross. They are coming up from Sonora. Anyone know of a decent motel close to the crossing on the
Mexico side?

Yes, 2 crossings...East and West. I've always entered through the West and when going north, I come out the East. Not sure when going south if one is
faster than the other. The West does seem a lot busier than the other, though.
Can't help ya out on the hotel issue.... I've never stayed there, just passed through.

My bro's say to use the east one if you don't have to stop in Mexicali for any goods

Use Calexico East going and coming right now as there is construction at the West entry and traffic gets backed up bigtime in the afternoon. The East
has 1-2 SENTRI lanes, 4 lanes needing your RFID passport card, and 2 regular lanes.
in the late afternoon/eve there is usually not much of a line. Give a report to us of your wait time.

West, only 2 lanes that aren't sentri or medical. Both lanes were moving at the same speed. No wait at all on sentri lane.

Where are you comming from?
Since your friend is coming from Sonora he must be coming to Mexacalli via San Louis Rio Colarado and the east crossing would be the most convenient
place for him to meet. Ditto for you if you are coming from anywhere east of Calexico.

Yes, they are coming up that way. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn at the border before crossing in the AM to pick them up.
Hopefully they'll be able to find some place to stay near the East boarder on the Mexico side.
