Road to Tecate from east

Anyone tried exit 54 eastbound, Cameron Truck Trail down to Campo and connect with 94 to Tecate?
Seems like it would miss a lot of curvy road on 94

Why wouldn't you take Buckman Springs Road, three miles west of there? That one's paved and still pretty straight.

You end up on Buckman Springs anyway, and then you have to deal with 94 from Campo to Tecate, which is still curvy and bad.
