TRAFFIC LIGHT CHANGES
I have noticed that my last few trips to Tijuana-Ensenada area, that the traffic lights are starting to change from the usual green to blinking green
(3 times) to red.
Many of the lights are now using the US format...GREEN, YELLOW (in the US the yellow length varies) to RED. In Baja Norte, the yellow is only a very
short yellow, then immediately switches to red.
Therefore, be aware of this as it may be a police tactic to catch red light runners...who knows!

I understand, maybe wrongly, that entering a intersection
on a Yellow can be a traffic offense, at least for Gringos?
Correct?

Your understanding of that portion of Mexican traffic laws is correct.
However, the more time I spend down south, the more I'm getting to drive like them...except for the left hand turn from the far right lane and against
a red light. My nerves are not up to that one yet.

Blinking green
I was pulled over in El Sauzal and informed by a very polite Caminos Federal that driving through a blinking green light is no bueno.

I don't think the MX cops need any tactics to catch traffic law violators. They only need to have one eye open. There is not a shortage of
violations. I often wonder if they are trained in the laws themselves.
