One liter of alcohol (of any kind, including beer) per person.

Up to 5 kg (11 lbs.) of cheese per person.

A reasonable quantity of olive oil per person.

A couple of years ago my aunties were visiting from Vermont, and my husband's aunt showed up from La Paz (we are in San Diego). As the aunties were unpacking they all unwrapped their block of cheese! I think the Vermont cheddar was better than the queso fresco from the La Paz ranch, but we all had a good laugh!

I declared a case of wine in San Ysidro. Border Patrol guy said "no problem...you paid taxes for the wine in Mexico" I bring multiple Valle de Guadalupe wines back every time now.
