Two gringos... foreigners.....los extranjeros Cristina Frie y Dirk Meyer. Not gringos in general.

Google translation of the article:

Cabo San Lucas, BCS After he was widely disseminated a video where it is appreciated that foreign Cristina Frie and Dirk Meyer participated in acts of plunder in the COSTCO store Wednesday afternoon September 17, where several objects were taken as a flat screen TV and a kayak, today got the face and recognized his error.

They appeared at the store where given two bank deposits that cover the full amount of the goods stolen.

2-1 foreigners paid in costco 002Ellos themselves, which were published via FACEBOOK "amending his mistake" while admitted they underestimated the power of social media outreach.

Deposits made on behalf of the company are for COSTCO total of 30,021.76 pesos.

It is unknown whether the Attorney General of the entity to open a preliminary investigation into these events or if the company has granted COSTCO maximum forgiveness for having been involved in acts of plunder.

They should be arrested and prosecuted! Do you think this will get the same amount of press as the initial reports of looting got? or can the Timeshare company they work for keep a lid on it after paying Costco off.

"....... while admitted they underestimated the power of social media outreach........"

Some mistake. So the only reason the property was returned was because their faces were plastered on the internet...............

Certainly they should, Ralph. Your lead-in to this thread implied, to me anyway, that it was only gringos looting Costco.

Questions?

Some justifications/ rationalizations may apply in some case....not this one.

Since stealing is done in the U.S. by Mexicans, so I am not sure why it is such a story to add 'gringo' to the title. As Ged says, a thief is a theif (no matter his/her nationality or skin color).

Do Americans who have vacation homes in Los Cabos really want to risk losing it all for a TV or whatever they stole?

It is odd if they were Americans on vacation. I mean how would they get the plasma TVs back across the border. Do tourists really go to Mexico to rob a Costco when there are Costcos in the U.S.?

Some Mexicans do have blond hair and blue eyes, does that make them 'gringos'? What reporter uses 'gringo' to describe a person? Maybe 'gringo' is just an undesirable in this case and not an American citizen?

Whoever they are, whatever they look like, what passports they have matters not... in the slammer they go! :light:

While I don't really want to use a broad brush, fact is that many of these time share sales people are tantamount to grifters.
