well that will kill the use of mogas for piston planes. Those with the STC mod to allow it and can use 80 octane [low compression engines] have for
years bought cheap Pemex in out of the way places. Now with prohibited alcohol added they have to stop. The alcohol ruins fuel system components like
lines, seals, tanks and O-rings. Some one may not get the memo and likely have an engine failure with all that portends.

I think according to the article, that it will only be magna, for now.
Premium will still be good for airplanes and boats. I use premium in my boat already anyway.

I see about 15%-20% better mileage on Non corn fuel. Only thing it is good for is farm subsidies and oil company bottom lines.

Hola,
i recall a few years ago that ethanol was problematic in small boats. i believe it did something to the gas tanks by creating a muck in the tank ?
sorry, but i don't remember exactly what the problem was/is.

Because corn is human and animal food. It doesn't belong in gasoline! Less corn available means higher prices for food use.

My Spanish isn't that good--
did the article say only a few refineries will add ethanol?
Does anyone know which refinery supplies BCS?
Ethanol production requires a big capital investment--I'm surprised Mexico has any ethanol production.

They didn't ,
just about any car on the road , made without ethanol resistant materials will have fuel system problems. Especially anything with a carburetor which
means most of mexico.
We just had the fuel filter on a Honda outboard changed , it was full of disolved fuel line

Cars have been using up to 10% ethanol without any damage for a long time. Some testing has shown that 15% ethanol can damage valves and valve seats.
Any percentage of ethanol can hold water in the blend causing problems if not properly cared for in handling and storage.
Some people feel that ethanol damages small engines but I have not seen any tests confirming this...and there are a lot of lawn mowers in SOCAL.
Use Premium if you are worried about it. That is what I do in my boat motor anyway.
on edit...all cars manufactured before 2001 did not use ethanol resistaNT materials..

For those that didn't read the article.
Calm down!
The ethanol content in Magna will be 5.8%, less than is added to US gasoline.
AND, this is the important part,
It is only being added at six distribution terminals located in the states of San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas and Veracruz.
I believe that those states are located on the Caribbean side of the country.
Ethanol is probably not coming to Baja.
