I still wouldn't be caught in one of these on the Pole Line Rd. due to large dimensions of the H2. They can keep their mall crawler!

If the '05 4 Runner has a rear locking differential and LT265 tires, I am sure it would do great in the Baja backcountry. It looks as if it has the
clearance, and I am sure it is a quality SUV that won't leave you stranded...

The 05 4 Runner comes with the 4.7 V8 as an option and a 5 speed auto or 6 speed manual. is 4 inches wider and the 4x4 version comes with the LT265
size tires.

Barry, I have no experence with the 05 4Runner, but it should be OK with what I know about the suspension.
The Trooper and 4Runner both need lockers in the rear (available, for both), and both have good ground clearance, so are fine.

The Tacoma pictured had a wonderful time running the backcountry trails in Baja. With a moderate suspension lift and some beefy BFG tires, this
locked TRD Tacoma when wherever Mike pointed it.

I was on the Pole Line trip with Ken in April and I don't think the Cherokee had any problems. I believe it was the CJ series that requires an after
market oil pan shield and gas tank shield. A lift wouldn't hurt either. Ken had a good setup. A Toyota 4x4 comes stock ready for off road adventures.

Those Toyotas are comfortable as well as capable. Reliability can also be a good thing in Baja!

The 4-runner is a good wagon. Look at the much better (in a different class) Land Cruiser. I took my 97 (last year of the 80 series) to Baja last
weekend. It will go anywhere and is a true luxury car as well. Central lockers are standard. With gas up, this being an uneconomical old-world engine
prices for the Land Cruiser are really good right now. Example, my wagon new would be $65,000 but with 100K miles $13,000. The engines are rated for
300,000 miles between rebuilds which can be done three times.
