Whale Boneyard

Last Sunday, we went for a picnic at a favorite remote beach. Driving along the bluff we saw this boneyard. I wonder what kind of whale it was.

a closer look...you can see that this little corner catches lots of stuff...I found a really cool ancient fishing cork float too in the garbage there
too.

here is the skull of the whale

It was cool to see all the moss on the top of the hill

I am not into poetry but this one always stuck with me

Never mind, another cut and paste. Lo Siento.

It was the D. H. Lawrence poem, Whales weep not.

It is a remarkable area, rather difficult to access as the fishing cooperativas have gates to keep poachers out and the mountains are beauuuutiful. I
find it amazing that it was inhabited by indigenous people long ago as there are so many artifacts, arrowheads, obsidian chips, middens etc. all over
the place.
