LOL!

What you wanna bet they had inside information? Why wasn't all that cash moved to a bank?

A single security guard watching it. After a similar incident in 2013? Ridi-c-u-lous.

Ah, Mexico.........

Not putting it in the bank eliminates one obstacle to putting it in your pocket..........

I read in the local news that the guard supposedly confessed. When I heard about it, I immediately suspected that "Ratony" Agundez was behind it.

Translated pages can be confusing, but did I read correctly that there is a 20% discount for paying taxes in cash?
If so, this sounds like not only an inside job, but planned well in advance at a high level!
A big boost from the measly half million they stole the last time.

But was the money recovered?

Here is an article that points to the city treasurer and (I believe) the head (curator, using Google Translate?) of the municipal police force of Cabo being involved.

What a shocker!! An inside job!!!

The 20% discount was for paying your taxes in January, whatever form. I used a debit card.

Bajajudy, thanks for the correction, that makes more sense!
It still has me scratching my head as to how and why they had that much cash on hand?

I read in another report that there was evidence that the torches were used to make it look like the safes were cut open, but they were actually opened by someone with the combination. My guess is that the money was removed during business hours by someone high in the municipal government then they attempted to make it look like a robbery. I wonder what Ratony's cut was?

The money will never be recovered. It's probably already in Ratony's Swiss bank account, along with the rest of the money he's stolen over the years.
