Here in Loreto it's just light overcast, but the wind is picking up. My estimate: roughly 20 to 25 mph.
We're ready. Got the gennie started, just in case the San Carlos power station gets damaged and goes down or the transmission lines go down.
IOW: Let'r rip.

empty marina

We just drove down to the Loreto marina and the last of the pangas are being pulled out of the water. Some of the big construction sites are actually putting plywood over their windows. ISSTE was packed with people buying last minute provisions. The loudspeaker car was circling town warning people that Hurrican Norberto would be here tomorrow and everyone should stock up on water and food and flashlights and should secure their personal papers. We're as ready as we can be. I've pulled out all my partially melted candles and the flashlights. We've got food and water and alcohol. Everything that can become airborne is stowed and secure. Nothing to do but wait. And go to happy hour to talk about the hurricane before the streets turn to rivers.

Carnival in Todos Santos

While waiting to see what this storm is about, the puebla of Todos Santos has been getting ready for the big festival ..

I took these pics over that last couple of days ....

We are going into town tonight to hear some great mariache (sic) bands and hopefully will not get blown away.

No rain yet here, just unorganized winds.

I was thinking, it would be nice to get an hourly or every 2 hour updates from our onsite correspondents like Comitan,Morgaine, Russ, Vandenburg etc...if we can get a commitment from some...maybe set up a little team...then we will know when things are happening...for example if Comitan doesent report in, it's because his power is off(or he's mixing a drink!)....
. Something like that. It gets nerve racking when we need info and nobody is reporting in for several hours...makes me think the worst.
"Anyone have any suggestions how to do this...
maybe check ins at 8:00, 10:00 and 8:00 in the morning and every two hours. If we know we can rely on a team of reporters, we will be better informed....oh my, there I go trying to organize things again...blame my mother!

comitan, didn't you say there was heavy rain at 5:40? Is it over for the moment? I cant' tell from the webcam...street looked wet? It's getting windier here maybe up to 20 knots and the swell is getting bigger all the time. It's really looking like rain to the southwest too...time to put some stuf away.
