A sign you DON'T want to see in Ciudad Constitucion

Ciudad Constitucion Police Station / Traffic Court

A sign you DON'T want to see as you follow the police officer (carrying your driver's license) to the police station. Ciudad Constitucion, Highway 1, July 2010.

The first time I was stopped (unjustly), I paid the mordida ($10, $5 for each officer) and headed south.

This second time (also unjustly), I demanded to see "the judge" before heading North. For arguing my innocence and that he was wrong (in his mind, a liar), the officer added a second charge of "resisting." I'd rather pay the fine to the "court" (a guy in a short sleeve shirt behind a desk in a plain old office) than line the pockets of crooked cops. The fines were reduced to a whopping $18.

Yes, they're once again stopping people, for various reasons. I'm using the parallel dirt streets the next time. So as not to be angry about this on the subsequent long drive, I simply put on my happy face and pretended it was a "toll" for using their street. Ugh!

Note that somewhere on this forum was a thread about traffic stops in Ciudad Constitucion.

This sign I like. Seen at a campground in Los Cabos. July 2010. Also saw it posted at a beach. Send me a private e-mail if you want more information about the locations.

A good sign. A good place to do some volunteer work. They really need on-going help twice per day walking dogs.

The sign is OK. It's the location I don't want to be/see

The sign is OK. It's the location I don't want to be/see. I think that I'll just skip this little side trip just 300 meters ahead. The prison a few kilometers south of Santa Rosalia.

Cactus Sanctuary

Hmmmm. I gotta think about this one. No feet. No fins. No wings. How are they gonna get across the border to the sanctuary???

Or maybe they're worried about them getting away? Good thing they put up a fence.

Oh, now I get it. Theft! They're worried about people stealing cactuses. Cacti? Whatever. I'll just run in there and grab me one as a curio. Thorns and all.

OK, I'm supposed to what at this traffic signal?

Captions needed --- comments welcome.
Transpeninsular highway westbound into Cabo San Lucas.
If you've spent any time driving around here, you'll learn this one real fast. And know not to screw it up. Divided highway with a "frontage" road.

Good luck. Best caption gets a fish taco. Make sure you've got insurance before you start.:tumble:

A Good Sign: Policia de los Cabos K9 Unit

I think this is a good sign? THOUGHTS & COMMENTS WELCOME.

Police K-9 Unit in San Jose del Cabo & Cabo San Lucas.
The Cape and canines sure have come a long way since the 1980's with respect to dogs and cultural issues related to canines.

David, perhaps this should be a new topic / new thread??
