BIG NEWS FROM BAJA CACTUS for Nomads:

I talked to Antonio tonight and told him we would like to stay at Baja Cactus on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010... as BajaCat suggested above.

Antonio ('BajaCactus' on Nomad) wants to invite all Nomads on the Mision Santa Maria group trip to stay at Baja Cactus Motel and will either have a special rate or if rates go up (as he fears may soon do to new taxes and costs in Mexico), Nomads will be charged the older, lower rate. In addition, Antonio will try and be there to greet us and have a special meal or breakfast for us, before we head off to tackle the Widowmaker!

Please email motel@bajacactus.com or call the motel directly (number on the web page http://bajacactus.com ) and reserve your room for Friday, Feb. 12 and tell the person you are with the NOMAD MISION SANTA MARIA GROUP.

Muchas Gracias Antonio!

We're leaving Thursday and heading down to San Felipe and beyond to Cocos. I have some supplies etc. for him. I plan on getting into Catavina area sometime Friday afternoon or early evening. Will stay in one of the hotels in Catavina or at Santa Ines. If you see a silver 2004 GMC Z71 with a front bumper guard that will be me. Anyone need anything carried to the mission including yourself just let me know and we'll pack it up and tie you down. I charge one drink to get in and three to get out but will settle for a good picture of the trip without me on the getting pulled end.

We are still on for Friday departure to El Rosario and a Saturday trip to Santa Ynez and MSM. If the road is impassable due to the flash floods of 2 weeks ago, then we will just enjoy being in Baja and see other sites... stay at Baja Cactus, etc.

FEB. 2010 TRIP CANCELLED

As posted on BajaCat's thread, TW dropped out and then the weather forcast for a massive Pacific storm heading for central Baja has meant a postponement until dryer times. Maybe Memorial Day weekend in late May?

Well... the weather is still weird here in San Diego (snow on mountains in late April for the first time), but what say we start talking about the Santa Maria trip again... Memorial Day Weekend?

I will find BajaCat's thread as well... since this one is his desire and I want to go too!
