7:15 AM Lomas Centenario ~ La Paz area....wind picking up since 6:30 AM. There was a little rain during the night, but none right now. Sunrise is starting to lighten the sky behind the mountains over the city across the bay. Lots of light to dark clouds 360 along horizon, but sky appears blue & cloudless straight up. Wind feels like it's coming from all directions, but strongest gusts are from SE.

buenos dias a todos ustedes...hurricaine warriors! Thank you soooo much for your early morning reports...they are all I had hoped for and more...love the pics of the carnaval last night...even with the threat of a hurricaine...the party goes on!

We also had a hurricaine party last night with bajabum et al. (who dressed for the occasion...they went to dinner at Ramonas in their ties and sure got alot of funnylooks...I dont think anyone here has ever even SEEN a tie!) Bob gave it to Juan to wear out fishing. Whoa...those guys can party with the best of em.

I wasnt pleased to hear NOrbert woke up with even more gusto this morning...good thing is he's dancing fast and should blaze through fairly quickly...but will do alot of damage just the same. Hang in there amigos. Gonna go fill our gas tank again and buy more beer.
this is shari bonzai(as in stunted growth) reporting from the mid pacific coast of THE baja.

Hey Loretanos et al in the path
Hope you ride this one out well.
Looks like you will definitely get some hurricane force winds so hunker down.

edit to add
We were just heading out the door to check out the beach when a squall came through. Mas tarde

Norbert briefly regained Category 3 Hurricane Status early this morning, but has now diminished to a Category 2 Hurricane. Residents in the storm's path, particularly those along the Pacific Coast of the affected regions should locate shelters if available and remain in contact with local officials. Although no strengthening is forecast it is still possible that Norbert may again strengthen before making landfall. Norbert is a strong Category 2 Hurricane, just short of Category 3 status. You should not venture out of doors during the onslaught of this storm. Be aware of the potential for flying debris and stay clear of low lying areas that may be subject to flash flooding. Be absolutely certain of the depth of water passing over flooded roadways. Drowning is the leading cause of death in hurricanes.

It's becoming windy (easterly and south easterly, guessing about 20 knots) in Centenario, just a little bit of "spritzing".
Broken clouds to the east and dark to the west.

Be safe "northerners".

hang in there Pam...is the power still on there? When the power goes off, will your cell service go off when the power goes off like it does here? Please keep posting every hour or so so we know if you dont post...well...the power will be off.
It makes me sad knowing that many of you will be incommunicado in a short while so keep in touch as long as you can...this will be a day to remember for muchos paisanos.

Biggest winds of the morning now and heavy rain ...

Just had our first electric blackout (for about 10 sec) ..

Hoping the power stays so that I can stay on the net.
