Sharks

Here's the Tennessee Williams drama you were lookin' for. I know a couple ladies who left the board because of The Yank. Knowing that, now, he may want to exercise parental control over the board so his son won't see "his" posts. It wasn't the cursing -- just the vitriol.

A couple "ladies"

left because of some remarks?:lol::lol: Good riddance!
What ever happened to the strong women who make sense rather than live desperate housewife lives?
I'm sure there is a knit one pearl two site for these types! And it ain't here, or in Baja!

DUDE! This forum is more like a huge arena, full of the world?s best debate topics! And to me?that?s exactly what it is sometimes. I have no ?feelings? present as I write. I certainly hope that you don?t sit behind your p.c. and get into a heated drama from the readings you get from this forum. It?s not worth it. Don?t kick the dog there at your feet either.
The frank, harsh responds I do are not office politics or a popularity contest for me. I had a run in with BajaBlackie that was totally nasty, no question about that! But..in real life, if I ever meet the guy?.I?ll buy him a beer and have good times! Bitterly abusive feeling or expressions do not apply to him in real life?or in his responses to me. I just don?t agree with 99% of the posts he does. Did he leave the forum too? No.
Those two ladies that you ?claim? to know?. I doubt your words speak the truth. Perhaps since you are a writer, you can concentrate on being creative with some good stories here at the forum instead of trying to define me. BTW. the topic was the use of foul words.

What The F ...?

This has certainly been an F....ing revelation to me. I agree that all of those P..che, G..D... A..holes who spout continuous S..t all F...ing day long should take their proxy parental responsibilities seriously and not use gratuitous F...ing profanity.

Any kid who is old enough to be in school and use a computer probably hears all of those words (without letters missing) every day, usually from his friends. The responsibility of a parent is to instruct his own child in such a way that he realizes that there are things in life that he should not emulate, no matter how common they are. It worked with my kids.

No offense, but unless your kid's been hiding in a closet there aren't any words or implications on here that he won't be able to decide for himself with the upbringing you have given him that are within guidelines you set and approve of. When you're not around he's saying whatever he wants to his bro's, which makes him a normal kid, and then he will filter it around his folks. The glass bubble upbringing never existed.

Go Broncos?

Now that's what I call offensive.

Anyway, on the topic, my eight and nine year old don't access any site without an adult present and participating, and parental controls are all enabled on our computer. There is too much garbage out there that they just aren't emotionally equipped to deal with at their age, and it's our responsibility as parents to guide them away from it and towards things that are educational and fulfilling. It's the least we can do to try to reverse the rotting of their brains caused by Gameboys.

Asking people not to use certain language on this forum may be a well-intentioned attempt to carry out that responsibility, but the problem is that it impinges on the rights of the users here to express themselves in a manner consistent with the rules of the board. As Doug put it, this is at least a PG-13 forum, and parental discretion is advised. Since in my fairly cynical world view only Candide would trust an entire online community to "post nice" for the kiddies, I'd keep them off unless I checked all content first.

Oh, methinks they could have played it up a little more. They need more back-bone in order to counter adult posts and replys. How many children would understand this boards many underlying (adult)messages embedded in various threads.
I would say that being an average age of 52 here, stirs up conversation that would hold zero interest for kids. I have not even been aware of a juvenile poster on the Nomad forum. Has there been any?

One thing is for sure; I wouldn't want my kids emulating some of the participants behavior as read here.

Trying to shield kids from other people's foul language and hissy fits has always struck me as unrealistic. Instead of asking Nomads to clean up their act, it might be more practical to tell the kid, yeah, that's the way some guys talk and behave--but that's not what we do.

And Yankee, I'll have to agree with whoever pointed out your past posts here. A couple of times your downright viciousness struck me as being unusual for this board.
