From the border
6-8 hours to Catavi?a. The cop story there is bs. Just follow the rules and you will have no problem.
I have to ask though, why would you want to vacation somewhere that you think you need a gun for protection? Besides visiting the u.s. that is!

Not just illegal but WAY illegal. The limit is 470mm or 18.5 inches. The only way it could be shorter is if it came that way from the
factory.
But in Mexico that's not what matters. Just the fact that you have it (without a license) will send you away for a LONG time.

I would not even post that I knew such a weapon existed, must less that I owned one. The ATF people love to find these kinds of sawn offs in the
states, that is what started Ruby Ridge. And as everyone is telling you not only the Mexicans will find it but you will not see the light of day for
years. Normaly its 8 years before you go to trial!! They are not stupid people, they do have computers, shortwave radios, fax machines etc and they
read forums (ATF & Mexicans) they know your are Italian and have Italian plates. How hard would it be to find you in a country with onlly 1 N/S
road??

Just kill all them Mexican Nationalists for your safety !
Gun? Now you are way off the path here ol' boy! Save that gun for the Kalifornia experience! Mexico I have traveled for 19 + years now. I have NEVER
had a major problem in their country. Carry a gun and what? Ask the mugger to hold for a second while you unpack your weapon from the car?
Yeah man...carry that double shotgun and wave it all over the joint. Next time I arrive in Mexico, I am sure that the villagers will ask if I am
packing too! Represent our country with a positive image down there...not fearful visions of hatred and untrusting vengeances. Hell?don?t forget the
bullet proof vest!

Carrying Firearms
The subject of carrying a shotgun reminds me of something amusing I read. Big surprise, Huh ?
Anyway, although it has nothing to do with weapons in Mexico, it is a good object lesson regarding carrying guns onboard.
The story was in Trailer Life magazine quite a few years back. A retired fulltime RVer had a bumper sticker on the back of his motorhome that read
"These premises protected by Smith & Wesson". He was parked at a fast-food restaurant and two cops asked him if that was true. He answered yes,
he kept it in a drawer next to the kitchen. He was placed in custody for illegal possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Now we are back on track and talking information.
Thx you guys! (exept that one w/ the silly pics. I have no use for something like that)
Mr. Sharksbaja. The gun came with my householdstuff in the container.
Long live the Homeland Security Checking @ the ports, I might say now.
And,,, about the bouillabaisse, that was me, >> no secret.
Just forgot to put my name under the thread.
I guess you called the - "not anonymous" Q87 administrator- to delete that thread.
I just wanted to help, not creating any harm to your , now what????>ego??? business damage??? because of your misspelling.
Which is still wrong on your menue.
It is bouillabaisse, not bouillibaisse.
But your pics with that fish-combo looked good and I bet it tastes good.
It's for sure no bouillabaisse but anyway it looks great!
Well, you are stating not to use Saffran.
That's maybe a mistake.
Saffran and garlic are the main herbs you have to use in any fish-dish if you want to create something original.
O.K., thanks again for all the info I was receiving here.
Even if some questions remain unanswered, we will make the trip!
Starting next week.
And maybe - if this Forum turnes out to be a good one - we will report.
ciao
Claudio

Thanks I'll check it out.
I have no idea about deletions or had anything to do with it. How could I, I don't know them.
The Booya is my own variation and although I could make the "authentic" version I call it "Sharks" booya but I used to call it "Catalina" booya or
"Corks'" booya.
I consider food costs very necessary and saffron isn't worth it to me. And besides at $27.95 it's never a mistake. I have never had a complaint in ten
years, is that good enough?
Yes, self promotion. Check out the reviews at Yahoo.com if you want the"customers" opinion

Hey Mr. Sharksbaja, that was a guess with the deletions. Just a guess!
On the Saffran, or how you spell it in the U.S: Saffron (which is the same of course) I can give you a hint.
There is a Saffron substitute.
Smells like Saffron.
Taste like Saffron.
Is just far less expensive as Saffron.
It is called: AZAFRANES LA BARRACA
Fabricante nacional num. 76 * Azorin, 8-Novelda *
N.S.31.8017/A-53/A
don't make no mistake, that is not Mexican, that is original from Spain.
But it is absolutely cheap.
I got 10 boxes of 100 'carteritas' and paid $5/ea.
Maybe you can figure it somehow through the i-net.
If not, I do have vitamin 'C' towards Spain.(Connections)
We use that stuff mostly for colouring rice and flavoring fish.
Looks good, taste even better.
O.K., so much about that sidestep w/ the bouillabaisse.
If that guy with the silly posters recommends not to post any Baja-Trip experiance here,,,, I've got no trouble with that.
Don't need to post anything.
And I DID NOT make fun of others.
(I guess Mr. Sharksbaja did catch that point)
Wrong spelling remains wrong spelling.
That's not a fun story > you funny-picture-guy-with-no-real-Baja-info-at-all.
Maybe I'll take the time to see what your bamboo enterprise is really all about down there in San Bartolo.
Some other forum users are already very concerned about the fact that you are looking for a partner in that business, but your entire business of
growing bamboo is operated on 1 single acre.
With some phony 5 acres in the mountains.
>>> Can you please describe that spot, where those 5 acres are located?
I would like to look at those as well.
Certainly will look at your business in San Bartolo.
You made a good description here, so I will find it.
And thx for your help. Baja related anyway!
ciao

"Some other forum users are already very concerned about the fact that you are looking for a partner in that business,"
Not sure what concern this is of anyone on here unless they are interested in something unique. And if you are already relaying what "others on here"
are gossiping about, how do you say chicken coup groupers in french?
You are more than welcome to stop by the property (just 1 acre) if you wish. If you are seriously interested u2u me for information.
Unfortunately, I am in Baja norte right now but may be heading down soon, just not sure yet.

Saffron
Crocus sativus
Fam: Iridaceae
I am not without ways to use saffron. I have made paella and rice dishes with it and my sister in Cornwall has it in pastries.
My father loved the stuff although the inferior paste he used was not what I would use.
Thanks for the resource however, Claudio
