J.W. Black
J.W. Black (aka 'Black Jack') was working on a house in Yuma, someone once told me... but his home is in Paradise, Northern California.
Pompano here on Nomad is a friend of his and was able to hook me up with J.W. via phone to see if he had any memory of the ruins they found south of
L.A. Bay in '66... J.W did have a home at El Coyote, Bahia Concepcion since the Gardner years...
I had a nice conversation with the inventor of those off road machines, but his voice did sound like someone quite advanced in years...

David, Thats great that you got to talk to him!! You knew and have talked to all of them except the old master himself and thats something!! As you
know I researched Desert Magazine and coresponded with Choral Pepper years ago about the black gold nuggett storys and I think its great that she gave
you her pictures, I have her obituary in my Baja scrapbook. There are some people in Baja who could write books about their times that have not. Did
you ever hear of Chuck Sistos who lived in Puertocitos for years??

No, I have not...
By the way, there still are lots of Pepper papers that I have still to go over.
So much Baja, so little time... even here in my home!

Sam Hicks Park in Temecula
Take the Rancho California Road exit from the I-15.
Doesn't matter if your coming from the north or south. Then go west of the I-15 to Front Street, south on Front Street. Less than a mile off the
freeway. Web-site below has a link to directions.
On Saturday, November 5, the Temecula Valley Museum will open a new exhibit, ?Erle Stanley Gardner: The Baja Adventure.?
The new exhibit will be on display in the museum?s second floor gallery from November 5 until January 8.
