Yes but only for certain applications and folks. The upload speeds are very slow so you get a long delay. Used Crystal Voice and Skype on the DW4000
system.

Slow upload speeds can affect quality - the delay is caused by the distance the signal has to travel - all the way to the satellite and back to the
network center on earth.
Basically, it works, and the quality is good. But, it's not like a standard phone call due to the delay. For example, conducting business over such a
link would not be acceptable. Calls to family and friends are another story.

Crystal Voice vs Skype
My experience with both (Direcway DW6000) has been that Crystal Voice has consistently better Voice Quality. I signed up for both on the same
computer and made numerous test calls to friends and my own voicemails. Listening to my end of the conversation on the voicemail, there was often a
background hum on Skype which never appears on Crystal Voice. I find the delay intolerable for usage in normal conversations. This will, no doubt,
be contridicted by others who talk far more and are willing to tolerate the quality in the interest of saving money. Since I NEVER conduct phone
conversations for other than necessary business, I have no problem with paying the rate on my Telcel Mex Phone.
Speaking of CRAPPY upload speeds, that IS the reason that the Vonage type services won't work with Direcway. I went that route. Extensive testing
showed great INCOMING Voice, but constant OUTGOING dropouts due to the Slow Uploads. The most irritating aspect of that experience were the calls to
Direcway Support. They NEVER indicated that the Upload Speed might be the cause and suggested all sorts of troubleshooting courses of action which
were useless. It was only after I read about the uploads on some discussion boards that I got on the right track. To add insult to injury, once I
mentioned it to Direcway, they acknowledged the problem and said I could correct it by purchasing a Business Class Service at $129.99 Monthly. Double
the price to save a few bucks on LD charges. No Way.

Every time I read something like this it again reminds me how valuable being a Nomad is. Thanks MrBillM for your experience.

I sure wish you guys would quit posting the prices. Los Frailes is doing a great job installing these things and charges a whole lot less. Now he is
going to be getting ideas. It was better when we kept him in the dark. I have used both Skype and Crystal Voice and I agree that I am having a
definite preference for Crystal Voice. For those who are hooked up to the landline in mexico (prodigy), there is no lag time and it works very well.
