If the attendant makes an extra effort to assist you... in other words, takes care of paying when there is a self pay 'caja' at the station, uses a calculator and actually is honest in using dollars, washes windows, smiles, anything that is 'nice'... HE/SHE deserves a reward IMO... Yes, they get paid by the gas station owner... maybe $1.50/ hour at best.

As Baja Nomads, who want the Baja trip to be a great experience for all our friends, reward the positive efforts... they certainly do not exist at most of the stations... gas already is a dollar a gallon cheaper in Mexico and you are on vacation... does ONE dollar for good service cause any of us a financial problem?

Think about it... :light::yes:

All good points. Now here's one, what do you tip the guy who runs over to your car at the red light and starts washing your windshield without asking...and ignores your request of "gracias, no."?

Nada.

A raised index finger wagged slowly yet forcefully left to right three times obsolves one from tipping for services not desired. :biggrin:
