I don't see any misspelled words in Bruce's sentence. One word is used improperly but it is a word with the same pronunciation. (Google spell check
did not find any errors)

Actually, it is. It's just the wrong word. That's why a spellchecker isn't enough - you have to understand what you are saying.

Everyone is always picking on poor Bruce, but I think Jerry deserves first price in our spelling department.

Those who cronically misspell and/or use improper grammar don't seem to know when they are doing it. It isn't necessarily a reflection of one's
intelligence. It may be lack of education or perhaps a learning disability.

I personally find value in content and try to overlook style. It does get to me sometimes and I want to throttle them, but the time to correct is
when they are young. We can continue learning many things at any age but I don't believe spelling is one of them. Also, where is the motivation?
Apparently it isn't ridicule nor shame.

So.....keep posting, my friends. Try your best but don't let your spelling hang you up. I will either step in it or go around. I appreciate the effort
and what you have to say, and most of all....your passion.

(aside):If spelling were a game and you swung and missed, it would be called a MIchit....really! Look it up.

 THANKS A LOT toneart !
I thank you for your post - its encouraging and gives comfort to people like me.
English isn't my native language, I'm checking, deleting, rewriting mails, posts, etc
Worrying (?) about grammar/spelling AND that peole might see this as an imperfection, that I'm stupid........
It kept me from communicating by mails, or joining a board like this for a loong time.
Nothing can be so insulting as an OVER critical voice, if it's done in private its okay, but not in public. And that can put peole off. And maybe they
have something interesting to say?

 AND THANKS to BRUCE !!
I love your posts, and those mistakes (you seem to do on purpose).
If not - still - they are FUN, they make me laugh, and feel easier about my own struggle.

ANYWAY - I have been told from a mentor " no one loves a perfectionist " just try to do your best.

AND also to bajalera - that was VERY funny your post - zeems to bea otha lanquage,
, very challenging and also educative.
 Love to ya'll Lotte

| Spell Check Faux Pas

The absolute best Spell Check failure I have ever seen occurred many years ago at GTE. The monthly newsletter passed out to all employees of
GTE-Calif had a front-page story and photo of the Female employee who had just been promoted to: Director of Pubic Relations. Many
of us inquired regarding becoming her assistant.

On another related (sort of) note: This a.m. the Boulder District Attorney gave an outdoor press briefing regarding the arrest in the Jon Benet
Ramsey case. In discussing a conversation she had with John Ramsey, she said it was a Poig-nant moment. "Hooked on Phonics" led her
astray, I guess. Nothing like embarrassing yourself in front of a few million people.

Maybe y'all are way ahead of me but I just discovered a website that is a great reference-- dictionary, grammar, and much more: www.answers.com
scroll down to the bottom and click on your choice. The dictionary is in the "words" section. Have fun.

 I think I missed something, Mr. B.
I, too, would characterize that as a poignant moment.
 This from dictionary.com

 poign?ant ( P ) Pronunciation Key (poinynt)
 adj.

Physically painful: ?Keen, poignant agonies seemed to shoot from his neck downward? (Ambrose Bierce).
Keenly distressing to the mind or feelings: poignant anxiety.
Profoundly moving; touching: a poignant memory
