Hey Lee! RE: San P.

"..Where do you stay Cameron? Do you know Bob Costa? Tomas? Gary? The Crew?.."

I lived about 100 meters from where you were, at "Casa Loco"/the Cabo Extreme house with Jimmy & Adam. I'm pretty sure we've met a few times. I've got a buzz cut/shaved head and goatee, drive the big white '77 F250, and my dog Nemo comes over to Cyril's all the time. Of course I know Bob & his family, Tomas, Gary, and all the other neighbors as well. See you this winter!

Only kidding. Sorta. Nothing wrong with Casa Loco. Didn't sleep the last Raegae Night at SP. Think the Extreme crowd kept it going till 6am? (I wandered down the road in my underwear and saw the bonfire going at your place.....)

What a group! Glad you're around, Bro.

See ya in the water.

My wife and I spent a month on our honey moon camping on the beach at Costa Azul and Los Cerritos in 1980. Too many Baja adventures and miss- adventures to remember. Over 150 waypoints on my GPS, maybe a 1/3 of them tracks to the surf. Would like to retire in Todos Santos. Wife is a Baja veteran but I have a whole different perspective on taking a good woman to live out of country and have it all blown away, after a trip down to help out in Mulege. We met some wives down there that looked like they wanted to pack it in. We think Baja has the greatest surf in the world, at any spot we're at, regardless of conditions. It's Baja and everywhere else isn't. Best barrel in Baja...Three Prongs on a 5 to 7 ft 180 degree south. Best hotdog wave anytime...Bus Stops

Started surfing in 1960

Part of the Ray Bay scene at Seal Beach. On to Bosa Chica and then the Pier at Huntington Beach. When we could drive, Cardiff Reef and Becons was the place. First trip to Baja was 1966. Spent a week and made it as far as La Fondas. Stopped surfing in 1970 when I moved to Vegas and became a Bombaro. Started again in 1985. Goofy foots rule.

There can not possibly be this many surfers on this board. True surfers never admit they're surfers, nor do they talk about surfing or surf spots. True surfers huddle away from others at the Pemex station for fear someone might follow them to their spot. True surfers lurk in the corner of the loncheria and speak in hushed tones lest someone be evesdropping. True surfers alter the direction signs at turnoffs. True surfers never admit to understanding GPS. True surfers brush away their tire tracks on dirt roads. And inspite of all these efforts, if by chance you ever stumble onto a true surfers secret spot and ask him how it's been, he'll tell you....

You should have been here yesterday!!!!!!!

Another name recall?

We remember meeting a surfer chap at Posada Concepcion just south of Mulege many years ago. He had a place there...then mostly trailers and palapa roofs. We had met him on the road coming south. His name was Micky something. We recall he was supposed to be some sort of a famous surfer...or was in a surfing business maybe. We know nothing about the sport..except that he gave us a list of his Baja surfing beaches which we have somewhere. We have never heard of most of this beaches and we have visited of Baja much over the years. Maybe someone else can recall this person and his history in surfing?

p.s. a slight clearing fog in the memory banks....his last name may have been Doyle or Boyle.

Sonora Wind knows not of what he speaks....his words are like the wind...fleeting, ephemeral, and difficult to grasp....alas, for it was not Dora. Dora hung out in Europe and Africa..never baja. It was Doyle, grasshopper. He is a long time baja resident, and his aunt used to live out on the point on Concepcion before she, well, that's another story.....

Ah-so, Sculpin, you master, us grasshopper..you have been kind to clear this up. At about that time in our Baja travels, we also met a solo gringa who lived at Conception Point on a ranchero. Perhaps she was Mr. Doyle's aunt, but I doubt she was a surfer, though. She loved horses, I believe, and horsemen.

Well, if she were a lover of horsemen, am I to assume that you are a horseman, and perhaps the object of her desire?

Scuplin two questions

1. Did I get the name Mike Doyle correct. Or was his name Micky Doyle? Many years have fogged the few cells left in the recall part of my menory.

2. Would you expound on the horse lady. Sounds like a wonderful story.

Thanks for the come back

But the horse Lady sounds more intreging. When both Doyle and Dora were at their zenth, I was far from the coast and not very connected to the sport. I'm back in So Cal and surf every chance possiable. Again thanks for the correct info. A beer or several in the cooler has you name on it, should we ever meet.
