It is more reasonable for the parents to watch what the kids do.

most of us are parents to watch what the kids do. that is why I am objecting to a link on this site to other links that promote porno.

Jeez, guys! I just took a look at his website, and by your comments I was expecting it to be an XXX portal, and it is just a Baja related blog, not a porn website! Why don't you stop being childish and give the guy a break?
We all know that in North Baja, prostitution and escorts are an every day occurrence, so of course a Baja-related blog will have an article about it.

How come your eyes caught the only link about escorts and not the numerous ones about restaurants, real estate, etc.? Probably because you went there looking for something to critique. Is that the way you want the American community in Baja to be, a bunch of people bickering and picking at each other?

No Offense Bruce, But like with a book in a library, if you dont like the mateiral, then dont open the book.

If you are against Hitler, and the things he did dont pick up a book with him in the topic.

If you are against anything adult. then dont click that link.

That article is safe, as well as that site. if you think that is bad, then you need to visit a highschool.

you are using some very bad analogues here we are not talking about what we like and don't like I don't have any objections to you having your porno on your site. you are right if I don't like it I wont go there.

but if you put your link on family sites that is like putting your porno books in the children's section. and that is just not right.

how can you not see that?

It is a matter of standards... What is it that you want to promote about Baja?

Doug takes great measure to insure the forums here (except Off Topic) are PG-13... Simply because Baja should be a family experience and Baja Nomad is a family site. Kids can wonder what something is and click on it if it isn't protected in someway... The Off Topic Forum has a simple method to keep young eyes from reading or seeing disgusting stuff there, like U.S. politics, LOL.

Yes Baja has some freedoms we don't in the U.S., such as prostitution... That doesn't mean it needs to appear on a family web page. On our tour this Saturday, we are not going to drive through Zona Norte just for the thrill of it. Baja has a lot more to offer that is unique and special.

It is unfortunate that you even chose to have ads which should only apply to adults, but it's your blog. I like writing about Baja historic sites... but I don't need to write about the Chicago Club for an audiance.

Something to consider, perhaps?

Let me just play devil's advocate here...

If your kids wanna peruse internet porn - and I bet they do - I got 10 million bucks says they're not gonna be peeping around Bajanomad or any related links. Can't recall the last time a perverse co-worker approached me in the staff kitchen whispering, "Hey man, have you checked out some of those links on the Bajanomad site? Pretty hot stuff."

I don't know any of your kids but logic says Bajanomad and related links are the least of their dangers. Unless they're turned on by lobster fishing, snapshots of crumbling Missions and mindless political crossfire.

Now, if you don't mind, I've got porn to download.

the reason this site is so clean is because Doug doesn't allow that kind of junk to be here so you are right no one comes here for that. now Doug might let you put it in the off topic forum I think anything goes there.

Being selective is censoring. When you choose for others, then you are censoring. Remember that people surfing on the net alone, should be ADULTS. Children should never surf alone. that is why I sit with MY SON when he is online.

David. Kind and thoughtful words you have there. I like the owner of this board am in this with my site for two reasons. One, first and for most, is to put out information about Baja. I DONT censor that information, I try to avoid the killings etc, but the adult stuff that happens, takes place in EVERY city on this planet, and twice in vatican city. JOKING!!! Calm down people.

It is unfortunate that you even chose to have ads which should only apply to adults, but it's your blog. I like writing about Baja historic sites... but I don't need to write about the Chicago Club for an audiance.

And this brings me to the SECOND reason ( just like this board owner )I make money from it. So keeping that fact in mind, let me ask you. Which would make more money selling books. James Christian book store. Or Barnes and Noble.

Barnes and Noble of course, because they do not have to rely only on the christian shopper. They sell Playboy, and car magazines, as well as books about vampires and the devil. So they get EVERY type of shopper, while Jame's shop ONLY gets the people looking for books on religion.

Consider my blog the Barnes and Noble of the Baja.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that this guy, quepasabaja, is simply looking for writers, not for anyone to critique his site. So, if you are not interested in writing for him, then don't. If you want to write, do. But get off his ass.

I'm sure that writing for him would be a good way to expose your business or share your opinion about whatever it is you have to say. So, instead of b*tching, write an article against internet porn if you must, and send it to the guy. It will help him and you both :0)

I'm pro escorts, heck, I love escorts, so if I were a good writer, I would contribute to his blog and share my experiences with them. Unfortunately I suck at writing. But I may give it a try anyway wink*wink

Everyone has their own parenting or grandparenting style. No problem with that. However, my experience in life has shown that the kids who were the most "protected" or had the strictest parents, the ones who were always looking over their shoulders ended up going freeking crazy in college when they were finally exposed to life on their own. Sometimes it happened in high school.

I would rather expose the kids to life a little bit more and allow them to make more decisions about what they see. They are smarter than we think and rest assured that they have seen most of the stuff we try to hide from them. Better to have open and honest conversations about it all as early as possible. They can handle it. And mst know junk, lies and smut when they see it.

Now if you try to restrict the content of links to other sites on this site, where do you stop? What about a link that leads to a link that leads to a naughty link? I gotta agree with bigzaggin here, your kids aren't going to start here in their search for the "good" stuff.

No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

No one has a problem with any of that. what I don't like is he wants to put a link to that stuff on this Forum.

FYI - I just did a search on this forum for "Escorts" (which is porbably how Junior would find the content IF he were looking for it here) and low and behold - this thread pops up! jimgrms - you can thank youself for creating a direct link between this site and QuePasaBaja and Escorts. Prior to your post it wasnt going to be easy for Junior. to care enough about QuePasaBaja in his quest for Naked Bajamians. Now its on the books forever. This site is branded. Probably already on the XXX watchdog lists, blocked by googles parental control, soon to require adult passwords. Nicely done.

What is the definition of porn?

Escorts and sexual freedom in Baja is the norm.

Links to ''Adult Entertainment" and "Porn" has an almost lurid or moral judgment about it. Who decides if it's porn? Is porn bad? Would Jr. think we're supporting bad?

Some labeling going on here. Personally, I don't think of porn, escorts or adult entertainment as bad but calling something (activity, proclivity, interest) porn comes across as negative.

Don't want to be too PC here. I mean, this is Baja.

wow it amazes me how people that like smut have such bad reading comprehension. if you would take the time to go back and reread the thread you will see that none is trying to censer anything.:moon:to use your Book store example that you all seem to like so much. I am saying have all you want just keep it in the adult section so you don't need to go to the children's section to find it and the kids don't need to stumble on it if they don't want to. if there are some kids that want to look at smut they will know exactly where to go.

Bruce at some point you should realize these 20-30 somethings are still infected and their judgment is very poor. No matter how much they scream over this, it will never change the fact their opinions are not worth a bag of beans. 30 somethings do not reply to this post. It will not do anything for you. I have been where you are, I have done what you are doing and I grew out of it, just as you will. I also know you cannot help it, because you know it all.
No I do not go to bars, chase women, come home at midnight, waste my money on things like you, who are still
infected, but I enjoy life as you do, you can ask any of my lady friends....Say your prayers you are where I am when you reach my age.:lol::lol: Quality is the answer not Porn, and you have no chance to understand until the fever dies. The best you can do now is promise not to corrupt children under 14. Do you promise? There are more freedoms then your porn freedom of speech(such a poor excuse for a freedom) What about the freedom of parents to keep their little children innocence for as long as they can.
This I will guarantee you every time you put up a porn filth link, you will butt heads with someone like me.
