OK OK OK...first of all thank's to aAaAaAlLlLlL the awsome great people that have said good things about my mom...and to those who know that she is a great, sincere person that only wants to help...and...to those FEW who don't like our posts about THE B&B i'm soooooooooooo sorry for you because it's you who in the future will want info about this beautiful place and guess what our doors will be closed...my mom is very forgiving and peaceful...on the other hand i am mexican and i do have their temper so keep you mouth shut about my mom please and stop making stupid remarks about her posts because guess what??!!?? nearly everyone loves them and if they dont they just don't open them so i suggest you do the same...it may seem bold on my part or even mean to say these things but if you mess with my family and expect sweet sirenita you have another thing coming.

SiReNiTa---:mad::fire:
ps. i would think that if you had a place at the beach that you want to share with people so that they can have some fun and spend a few days in paradise you would tell them about it...oh wait my bad oooops!!! i forgot you don't like sharing so if you please (and i am being polite) keep your unwanted opinion about asuncion and my mom to yourself...like the saying goes if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Live life as well as you can,
don\'t regret the things that once made you smile,
learn from your mistakes,
and thank God for every second he gives you upon this earth.

Al-

I personally know Juan and Shari and will vouch for them. They are true nomads with hearts of gold. They have invited me into their home with open arms. Over the course of my visits, we have discussed many topics. Some topics we agreed on and others we disagreed. With that in mind, I DO NOT think we should ban anyone. To me, that does no good.

I do not want to be a member of a board that discriminates against people just because they are a-holes....every group needs one or two. Why is it so challenging to just move on? I know a few people who would put me in that (a-hole) classification..oh well...we can't please everyone. But this board is open to differing opinions whether one likes it or not.

In closing, remember what your mama probably told you....sticks and stones...blah, blah, blah. Juan and Shari are good friends of mine. I think they have a lot to offer. If someone feels differently, so be it.

Happy Thanksgiving Nomads!

Zac

ps. I was not paid a promotional fee for my endorsement.

Remember, we are 'sharing' Baja on the Baja Nomad forum, not the New York Times or CBS News... Doug's site is the #1 Baja Internet forum, but everytime I meet people in Baja, they never heard of Baja Nomad (before).

What I am saying is that we are connecting with thousands of people here, but not just anyone and not the majority of Baja travelers. It is my feeling that people who read this site are (mostly) lovers of Baja and want to keep Baja a special place... ie. not interested in high rise hotels and condos everywhere.

However, we are not so selfish to deny advancements in the quality of life to the wonderful people who live in Baja. I hate improved roads, but they bring trade and easier access to emergency medical assistance, etc. So, I search out old or new-to-me dirt roads to find special places. If you follow my trip reports or my web pages then you know they exist.

My web pages of Shari's photos and posts have brought some attention to Bahia Asuncion, but there is no tour busses lined up at her doorstep because of what is found here on Nomad.... Please relax and let the few who have the time and ability to go out to Asuncion enjoy themselves. Shari committed no crime posting invitations to her B&B, she instead has given all of us a lot of great things to read and see... Her daughter too!

Sirenita: Right on for sticking up for your mother!

Relax, have a beer, take a siesta... and BE NICE!

Wow, all I can say is a huge mil gracias a todos who said those lovely things about our family and village. I'm glad most of uou like our posts and understand what we are about. I also appreciate the support as I was pretty devastated by the hurtful and twisted comments and wondered if I really should bother to post anymore. My daughter also set me straight on this idea...she's the best! It gives me great pleasure to see nomads and our family and friends enjoying each others company and learning from each other. I love bringing the cultures together in a positive way.
We truly do wish to help our community and I have a good example of how this is working. Last night some nomads arrived and my husband Juan stopped working on a house construction and entertained them, showed them around, brought them to the hotel (not ours by the way) where they stayed and ate at the restaurant their. This morning at 7:00 I was up to take them to the amigo who took them fishing. Manuel has just started a fishing charter business here and REALLY could use the business. So many businesses here benefitted from their visit although we didn't receive a peso! That's what it's all about folks...as many of you noted, we just want to let baja lovers know what's here for them.
I haven't a clue about big investors or like lencho said " I personally am NOT convinced that overwhelming, uncontrolled development by money-fat outsiders is the answer to whatever economic problems locals might have, and that is very real possibility with the current flow of events. " Maybe Lencho knows something we don't about investors coming here. So far it's just been Nomads interested in hangin out here. For the record we don't have a pot to pee in financially which will be obvious when you visit us and have never even met a developer. I don't know what the answer is to the economic problems here, but more visitors won't hurt. If there are big plans for here, oh well, what can I do except hope that you all see this lovely place before it happens. But really I don't get it sometimes...everyone loves to go to Mulege, BLA, etc. and there are tons of tourist activity there. At the moment the future for the kids here is very bleak, most of them are forced to move out for lack of work. Crystal meth is a huge problem cause the kids just dont have anything else to do. I'd rather see my neices and nephews guiding familes to the fossil valley, or to swim with sea lions or my aunts making some extra pesos selling you tamales...it's a win win situation.
So in closing, thanks again for your support but don't you even think about coming here let alone staying with us...you'll hate it!

Oh yeah, I forgot to inform all those who MAY be interested that the road should be pretty good from now on because the road constructions has started so they are preping the surface to pave it very soon. I took it yesterday to Guerrero Negro...but BEWARE of the enormous potholes from Vizcaino for about the first 30 miles in. Go slow as there are lots...hopefully they will fill them soon as they are terrible.

Hi Zac, thanks... 9,000 huh? Well, I guess as the oldest active Nomad other than Doug himself, I am keeping the energy level up!

Sorry that we didn't see you behind us on Mission Gorge!

Hope your day was a good one... It seems weird being here in San Diego instead of being in Baja!

Amigo Lancho,

You have raised an issue that is certainly worthy of discussion. The issue of retaining "rustic charm" and "unspoiled beauty", my quotes, are a real issue that might be interesting and maybe even useful to discuss.

I have had personal experiences with this issue, as Nomads not doubt have had. How to balance the real needs for development with the seemingly inevitability of change to the area being developed is a very real issue.

I live in Oregon. Our late, and in my opinion great Governor, Tom McCall once said "Vistit Oregon but Don't Stay". This phrase became the moto for our state tourist office for the years of his administration. I can tell you that it did not work and that the Oregon I inhabit is considerably differant than what I first encountered thirty five years ago.

I have more to say on this topic if you and others would like to discuss it under a new topic whick I will call Develop/Keep the Same

I have posted a new topic Develop/Keep the Same as a format to discuss the legitimate issue you have raised in this discussion.

I am sure asuncion is great - it is in the top 5 of my baja trip que, but I just think its at least a little bit worthy of poking fun at the way in which shari sneaks the promos in. And if you disagree, then thats your right, as much as it is my right to heckle her for it, as much as it is her right to keep on promoting, and as much as it is bruce's right to defend her for it.

I also think its a shame that she believes by promoting her unspoiled part of baja that she'll be able to improve conditions for the coming generations, but thats just my opinon, like it or not, which i will take right on over to the new thread where it was solicited.:bounce:

Bajamatic,

I hope you bring roses when you visit Asuncion, if you visit Juan and Shari, and bring a heartfelt apology with it.

You have the right to say what you please, and I am glad that the internet is a place where we can do that. There are however real people on the other end of these missives and Shari's feelings were deeply hurt by what you said.

Your joke was missed. That is embarrasing. I know that one. I put out a terrible stinker at our Thanksgiving table this year. No one laughed, heads went down, jaws dropped, napkins were dropped. However I had the benifit of seeing the faces of those who heard my "joke". I was able to recover. On the internet we do not have the advantage of seeing the non verbal responses of the people reading our posts. Humor is hard and even harder in cyberspace. I would suggest staying with prose. You are better at it.

You also offered me advice when I requested input from the Nomads on fishing in Baja. I appreciated your help with that. I hope you will keep posting.

I think it is important somehow address the issues rather than the person in a format like this. You have an issue with advertising on this format. That is a legitimate issue. You have a problem with the affect of development on isolated places. This is a legitimate issue. You might be better heard if you separate the issues from the person. Now I have given you some advice. I consider us even for your advice on fishing.

Have a good one amigo.

I hope you will keep us posted on what you find.

I like you love to find out of the way places to enjoy in safety and solitude.

The Japanes have learned to somehow survive living in such close proximity that they are like sardines in a can on their trains. They even have "pushers" whose job it is to squeeze the human drama into the cans. They have however had generations to develop this capacity. I don't have this sort of time.

Thanks for the list.

I have deleted my irresponsible post on banning.
I have been feeling the hostility on this board lately and am growing weary of it. My fuse is to short and I am attempting to pull more out.
Bajamatic may have been joking, but I still cannot see it.
Hope the nomads have brighter (Sunny)....more positive posts today.
