From The Baja Western Onion, February 15, 2007:
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN LORETO... - and need a place to stay, there's a hip little hideaway with a Euro flare...Hotel Luna. Straight from Switzerland,
owner Alberto Besoni and his wife Karla built the three room hotel, and opened it last August, a block up from the Malecon on the northern end. The
rooms are immaculate, with a 60's flare with flat screen TV and wireless internet. There's a great bar on the roof and you can order food from the
Giggling Marlin restaurant next door.
Alberto arranged for a fabulous massage for me, too...by newly transplanted mainlander, Sergio Chavez. The rooms are 650 pesos a night and the massage
was 300 pesos for an hour! Ask for directions to walk over to the brand new La Biznaga Galeria for hand painted clothing and fabulous natural and
organic products.
I also recommend a great place for breakfast or lunch that most tourists would never find on their own....Cafe Sagitario, on the grounds of the Rivera
del Mar Trailer Park. They offer a breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, potato, pancakes, and toast for 45 pesos! They offer chile rellenos, shrimp
tacos, and hamburgers too. The most expensive items on their menu are rib eye and t-bone steaks for 110 pesos. Mother and daughter run...such sweet
people...

My Oasis story:
5 years ago, turning 50 and needing a bit of down time to contemplate my impending slide into 'old age', I flew down to Loreto and spent a week at the
Oasis. First morning there I woke up real late, about 10am, took a shower and walked over to my bed to get dressed. The door opens to the cutest
young maid who gets a full on frontal nude shot of a fifty-year-old, slightly over-weight gringo who is trying to cover up with a wash cloth.
For the rest of the week, everytime I left my room to go to the bar or resturant I could hear giggles.

I also recommend Hotel Luna. A block from the Malecon, and the room I had was very nice. Alberto is a good man and didn't meet Karla. There
is an upstairs bar and nice music. My room had a large TV with both Spanish and English channels.
Downside that weren't problems: the rooms all face the Laughing Dolphin, a MX restaurant. Tables are 5' away separated by a 5' wall.
Fortunately, the music wasn't too loud -- I could hear it even with the TV on. The music knocked off about 10pm. Off street parking only. I
have an alarm on my car and would not have been comfortable parking my loaded SUV there -- it's not a bad neighborhood. I'm just that way.
Wireless internet wouldn't work with my Mac and after a vew attempts to connect, I gave up.
I'd stay there again but my first choice in Loreto will always be Las Cabanas. Booked well in advance and you'd be lucky to get accomodations short
notice. Still worth a try. Tell Jill or Linda Lee said hola.

Tom,
Loreto Shores RV park has boat storage. I think the going rate is $60 a month, but not positive on the price.

Sounds like a fun time, except for driving in the dark towing a boat.
Why risk that on your vacation? (We left Ensenada at sunrise and made Mulege 1 hr before sunset in July.) You could be in Loreto driving in daylight
(except border to Ensenada), by 10 am the next day and reduce your risk significantly.
Drive carefully and have a good trip.

Tom,
most people do take 2 days to do this...stop in Guerro Negro...roll around naked in the sand dunes just outside of town...there are hotels just
minutes from Route 1 you can stay and safely keep your boat and stuff...
I wouldn't think of driving the road from Santa Rosalia to Mulege when I was tired...or in a hurry...be careful...

Iguana Inn is good. If you don't have a boat. So is the Hotel Junipero and Hotel Plaza Loreto both at about $40 per night and located in the heart
of town. Short walk to everything. Plaza Loreto is home to the office of Pam Bolles and you can book fishing trips through her. She is the best in
town and has the best pangeros. She runs a tight ship. Forget the Oasis and Desert Inn....too expensive and over rated.
If there is no fishing in heaven, I am not going

crossing at 1 am we will be on the divided toll road till maybe 2:30 then a good 30 minutes to the south end of ensenada. so yes there will be
about 2 hours of night driving ( early morning driving ) on the two lane. I wouldnt say its for everyone but it works for us.
1 drives mid california to ensenada, 2 drives ensenada to mulege, 3 drives mulege to loreto. (short lunch stop at san ignacio)

Lunch in San Ignacio
Check at Ignacio Springs B&B and see if they are doing lunch. If so you can eat and go for a wonderful swim.
If not, Rice and Beans is probably the only place open for lunch.
If you dont stop there, Bofil has a line of truck stop-like restaurants that are pretty good.
