Man....It's hot out there today. The CFE guy just came by and read my meter so I had to go out and give him a tip. After all, it is service.

I agree!! And if they check my tire pressure upon request. Some times the trash at our house exceeds the capacity of our trash container at our house and I tip if I can use their trash "containador" to dispose of the excess.

Well they are pumping the gas for you. The attendant does not set the price, so it is not his fault.

In Alta California they trained all us monkeys to do it for ourselves a long time ago, so it is nice when someone actually does it for you.

5 pesos is not much to me.. but it really helps the guy working in the gas station. They will also be less inclined to spill gas on your car, remember you, etc.. if you grease the wheels.

If they are on the ball and I get a good feeling {like @ El Rosario} I'll tip 20 pesos, but thats just me. Isnt 5 pesos somewhere around 50 cents?

I do not tip for just pumping the gas. I tip 10p if they wash my windshield and/or check the tires. The bag boys at the grocery store get 2 or 3p. It costs me maybe $25 total per year.

I do not allow the street guys to wash my windshield at the stop light in La Pa' or TJ.
