George. You know me better than that!

I didn't say anything about plovers, seals, kids or grandkids....

BTW, My mind set is prety simple: Respect for our home and the creatures we share it with. I'm prety old-school conservative that way.....

Besides, I made a long enough ride with you (LTO to Sta.R ~ remember) to have heard a few of your stories... which were prety entertaining, I might add... anyway don't tell me there aren't some humans you've wanted to take the rubber hose to... I know you better than that too !

And of course, I'd love to send some kids and grandkids down to play on your beach :-) I know they'd love you & Deb. . . . especially if you took them out for a boat ride in Dusty!

When turtles were stolen before, Antonio locked the gate. To gain access you had find him.

I wondered how his retirement would effect the turtle station besides admission being charged.

As long as turtles are famous for tasting good, and the town is swamped with visitors from big cities, and the gate is left unlocked... well, that is the result!

Heck, in '06 the new fellow was there and wouldn't let us have a quick look because he was on his 'break', standing inside the closed gate... told us to come back tomorrow (we would be in Gonzaga Bay then)... So, Elizabeth's son didn't get to see them.

If you accept the Bible, then there is no problem. Man IS above the animals. If you don't, OH WELL.

Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 1:28:
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

So what? The bible was written by men trying to sell their new religion to the heathens. Using the bible to validate your world view is pathetic excuse for your inappropriate behaviour.
If your dog wrote the bible, he would have written:

Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make dog in our image, after our likeness, and spell his name as reverse of ours: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over man, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing, such as MrBillM, that creepeth upon the earth.

Yah, no kidding... that was the last time God was posting here, yes?

If we could get the turtle population back up or better, then we could eat them again... So, the turtle research facility is designed to learn how to get us more turtles for the future (a good thing) and we could eat them like God wants us to, and legally as well.

The low life that took a captive turtle out of a tank to feed to his friends/ family at Semana Santa is scum... So give him hell, not MrBillM for telling us God's plan!

Perfectly acceptable in the good book, according to Bishop South Campo.

We are here to subjugate them..........making a meal of them, occasionally, sends a good message to the others that WE are the top dog.

Let's see here. I assume because you are quoting Genesis you are refering the god of the Hebrews who gave those orders.

That same god in the Torah gave orders against eating some animals---pigs, shellfish, etc. Turtles may be exempt, however, while they have a shell for a home, they are not strictly a sea animal.

Now, The Seventh Day Adventist also quote Genesis as to why they don't eat meat at all. They refer to the diet god gave Adam and Eve in Gen. 1:29, "'I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food'"and later in 3.18. after the great fall, god added to their diet "'the plants of the fields'" .

While all the great spirtural writings contain lots of great wisdom, they are also just wonderful to quote in order to support just about anything and any point of view.

If you like turtle and hope to eat it someday, don't blame the gods. It is simply your preference.

Diane

And So ?

JDT and I are in agreement that it's OK with God to eat Turtles ?

I agree that I haven't seen any Cows swimming the Sea of Cortez or on any ocean, for that matter.

In 1992, I was sailing back from Catalina during the last El Nino storm of the season and a Cow came floating by, but not swimming. Judging from its bloated carcass, it hadn't been doing anything (other than floating) for awhile.
