If you Nomads think the road to Asuncion is soft & rough, try going past the turn-off and head to Bahia Tortuga. The best part of the drive is the last ten or so miles are paved. Plus there are about 6 dump trucks dumping base on the road six days a week.
For a town of about 2000 people, there sure seems to be a lot of attention devoted to it. They put in a 24" water main from Vizcaino complete with a huge pumping plant.
Perhaps this could be the next fishing mecca for Gringos. I know that the bay is a resting point for American sail boats headed to Cabo, and once a year the town hosts a yellow tail tournament.

The back road from Asuncion to Tortugas is even more fun!

They soon found the old beater, paint scraped off, pick up stuck in the sand and out of gas on the road out of here....guess they didn't realize how far it was....jeje...so they got caught, the goods were returned...a happy ending...BUT, now there is a huge cafuffle where the ejido members want to do a protest to stop the highway from being finished thinking that crime will increase if the road gets paved. So that should make lots of you Nomads happy...but gee, the crappy road didn't deter these dastardly criminals! It did make for an exciting Saturday for sure...

I didn't want to mention that one because there would be some people trying to drive in two wheel drive.
Nice short cut, heh?

It is the road that we were told where the armed robbers got stuck in the sand. We go out in that area quite a bit---glad we were not there that day as we always stop and we probably would have pulled them out. :o:o
